1. Everything in its place.

Intentional design has become a driving force and a kitchen or bathroom without it just doesn’t make the cut with today’s new home buyers. There is a huge demand for a cleaner overall look, therefore it’s important that everything feels like it has its own place and purpose. Items such as built-in trash receptacles to keep the garbage out of sight, countertop USB outlets, walk-in pantries, pull-out drawers for pots and pans in the kitchen and toiletries in the bathroom – organization and storage are top priorities.

2. Contemporary and clean.

Quartz and light granite countertops along with white or light-colored cabinetry in the kitchen have become increasingly desirable. For designs with darker cabinetry, we’ve moved toward color options with gray undertones versus the warmer red tones that were popular in the past.

3. Luxury master bathrooms.

In modern designs, master bathrooms are having a moment, especially in high-end markets. We’ve seen that in larger homes, the master bathroom has increased in size and dual vanities are a must. Homebuyers want luxury details such as larger walk-in showers and oversized standalone soaking tubs versus traditional shower/tub combinations. Additionally, master closets have increased in size and included organizers such as built-in shoe racks have become a hit.

4. Smart home technology.

Today’s homebuyers expect their home to be modern in every way, which is why we include a series of integrated home automation products in every new home we build. We are seeing a big trend where the kitchen is used as a main control hub for these features. We set up an Amazon Echo Show or Dot in this space to allow for easy and hands-free monitoring of the front door, management of indoor air temperature, music, movies and so much more.

5. Heart of the Home.

Larger kitchen islands, with dual kitchen islands in select larger homes, have become a huge hit. The kitchen is still the heart of the home and a large island allows for family and friends to easily gather around together. Open-concept spaces where the kitchen seamlessly transitions into the dining area, Great Room and outdoors also create the perfect home for those who love to entertain.

As the seasons change, daylight saving time comes to an end, which mean everyone finally gets that extra hour of sleep that they look forward to. The time change comes with lifestyle changes as well. From readjusting the kids’ school night sleep schedules to getting home from work after the sun is down, this blog is your guide to making the transition out of daylight saving time as smooth as possible. Here’s a quick tip as things get started to keep in mind during the time change: make the most of your waking hours during the weekends!

Bedtime Needs a Blueprint

While you may need to focus more on your kids getting in bed on time for the time change, don’t forget that you need to give your own body time to adjust. Start adjusting the sleep schedules of everybody in the house (and we mean everybody!) several days before the time change in increments of fifteen minutes each day. It’s easier to convince any little ones to hit the hay before the sun goes down if the whole family is involved, so brush your teeth and change into your jammies a little earlier than usual.

To get ready for your new bedtime, set up an evening ritual that works for you. Dim the lights. Read a book. Play some soothing soft rock from a time when you knew the newest fashions and soak the day away in the tub. A dark, quiet, and cool bedroom makes it easy to fall asleep.

It’s important to make a deal with yourself that you’ll still be getting a full night of sleep every night, even if the days are shorter. While this does mean that you’ll be going to bed earlier than you’re used to, it also means that you’ll be able to get out of bed the following morning and take the day by storm.

Sleep Better Than a Baby

To make sure your kids get in bed and stay in bed until morning, it’s important for them to be active during the day. Limit their screen time, as the blue light from devices can make it more difficult to fall asleep. Encourage them to spend time outside by going out with them! Chase them around your backyard while you get your mind off of work. You’ll remind yourself of what you’re working for, and tucker yourself out in the process too! As an added benefit, spending time in the sun regularly (and safely!) serves as a natural mood booster.

Make sure you haven’t had any meals or snacks for two hours prior to bedtime, and you’ll have a better chance of staying asleep through the night. Eat a meal as soon possible when you get home from work. A family dinner is another chance to catch up on each other’s day, and as a bonus, the whole family will have a better night’s rest.

If you get home from work a little later than you’d like, make mealtime easy with weekend meal prep. Spend some of your Sunday putting together enough main and side portions to build a variety of meals throughout the week to keep your family from getting bored from the same chicken and rice every night.

Regarding your weekend, keep this in mind! It’s your weekend, so spend it how you see fit. Enjoy your Saturday morning watching your child’s soccer game, or teach yourself a new skill. You’ll be sure to have a day full enough to make falling asleep that night easy. For more ways to fill your weekend, be sure to like Lennar on Facebook.

Fall is officially here, so that must mean cozy sweaters and hot beverage season is upon us. Well, not exactly here in Florida, but we still have plenty of ways to make it feel like fall in your home even if the weather does not coincide. There may not be many changing leaves but adding some festive décor to your home can quickly get you and your family in the fall spirit.

This time of year, walking into a cozy home at the end of a long day is the most relaxing feeling. Cinnamon, apple, or amber scented potpourri in a decorative dish will always make your home smell like a fall festival, so that is a great place to start in your seasonal preparation. Essential oils or wall plug-ins are an even easier way to add some fall scent to your home. Soft blankets and throw pillows on the couch and fall scented candles throughout your home is a simple way to master the fall season.

Pumpkins are often the first thing that comes to mind when we think of fall, so they are a perfect addition to your autumn décor. Carving or painting pumpkins is such a fun activity to do with family and friends, in addition to looking very festive around your home or sitting outside. As great as pumpkins look, they are also the most popular flavor of the season when it comes to food. Stock up on the best fall snacks because pumpkin cookies and candy corn may be necessary at any time, so you will want to keep your pantry stocked.

The fall months are so enjoyable especially when your home is mastering celebrating the season. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving, and pumpkin everything, it can be hard to find someone who does not love this time of year.

Meet The Stantons

Meet the Stanton’s from Fort Mill, South Carolina, who found their dream home and their dream jobs with Lennar.

The Stantons and their daughter Kylie moved from a small town in western New York, near Buffalo to Fort Mill, South Carolina to be closer to their oldest daughter Kristen and Dianna’s brother. Besides wanting to be closer to family, another huge factor in their move was their beloved golden retriever, Nala.

Diana and David both loved how Lennar made the home buying experience simple and easy by only having to visit one location to get the process done.

When Dianna took some time off from work to relocate and get her daughter Kylie settled in her new school, she noticed that Lennar was looking for a Sales Admin. She got the job and loved it so much she referred her husband for the position of Customer Care Representative. The Stantons love their new Lennar family and home!
