As the spring thaw sets in and the days get warmer, it is a good idea to care for your home after a long, hard winter. A routine spring maintenance to clean and restore the following features and mechanical systems of your home will ensure your abode is in good working order throughout the season, and in some cases the whole year.

Disclaimer: Regular care and maintenance of your home not only increases the longevity of your property but helps prevent costly repairs and prolongs its value. The following maintenance steps should not replace the manufacturer’s recommendations. Products used for the cleaning and supportive functionality of your home’s systems and features should be approved by the manufacturer. We strongly suggest you use licensed contractors for any tasks that require the technical knowledge and/or physical ability to perform without injury to yourself or damage to the home.

Interior

The inside of your home will be more comfortable if you tend to those items that fall short of service with neglect.

* Do NOT caulk the undersides of window trim, door trim, or siding. These gaps are designed to prevent moisture from getting trapped within the home structure.

Exterior

Some of the features outside your home work together with those inside to service your needs. An example would be the AC condenser unit. Other items ensure your home’s durability against the elements and/or enhance its curb appeal.

In conclusion…

Your home will strongly benefit from monthly, quarterly, seasonal, and annual maintenance routines. Click here to view a general list of those maintenance steps Lennar recommends its homeowners.

Lennar Atlanta, a division of Lennar (NYSE:LEN), one of the nation’s leading builders of quality homes in the U.S., donated a generous sum of model furniture to local charity Peace Place. Peace Place is a local shelter assisting battered women and their children. Doors to the shelter opened in 2000, since then they’ve helped over 2,200 women, men, and children.

Peace Place’s housing program now includes transitional housing as well as an apartment building, which provides safe accommodations at a reduced rent for one year. In addition to housing, Peace Place also provides coaching, support groups, case management, outreach advocacy, legal advocacy, financial assistance, parenting programs, referrals to other service agencies, and more.

At Lennar Atlanta, we know our responsibility to our Community is more than building and delivering quality homes,” says Lennar Marketing Manager, Heidi Schneider. “We are responsible for giving back, for doing the right thing for the right reason to better the lives of others. It’s about more than giving money. We give our time and our hearts on a continuing and connected basis to make our Atlanta Community a better place by helping non-profit organizations like Peace Place, Inc achieve their goals.”

Lennar Atlanta often partners with charities in the communities they build in. In addition to Peace Place, Lennar has also partnered with Habitat for Humanity, donating as-new kitchen and bathroom cabinetry for use in six new Habitat homes, effectively lowering the homes’ construction costs by thousands of dollars.

Lennar’s model furniture donation to Peace Place will provide battered women within the program quality items to furnish their new homes. These items will also be utilized in the transitional housing available. Since most survivors of domestic violence suffer financial hardship after leaving their partners, Peace Place provides items and services to help lessen this burden.

Furniture items donated this month include everything from living and family room furniture to kitchen, bedroom and office furniture! Since Lennar regularly upgrades the interior furnishings of their model homes to maintain their modern aesthetic so items donated are of high quality and like new.
