As we settle into the new normal of social distancing and staying at home, it can be easy to fall into a monotonous day-to-day routine, especially when work from home and homeschooling appear to take over. If you’re not careful, the effects of cabin fever can begin to creep in and lower your spirits during these already difficult circumstances. To help combat this and keep your family’s sanity in check, we’re sharing five easy ways to stay entertained while quarantined.

1.Learn something new.

Now’s the time to tune that old guitar, download a language app, dust off those roller-skates, or search for easy science experiments to do at home. Carving out time to try new things not only keeps the mind active, but also gives us something to look forward to during the day. Families can come together and bond over these shared experiences or, if your family’s interests vary greatly, each individual can choose to learn a different skill. Nevertheless, instilling a love of learning in your household is a great way to make the most of these trying times.

2. Make cooking a family affair!

Since daily commutes are no longer eating up our lunch breaks (pun intended), we are spending more time in the kitchen, which gives us the opportunity to bring out some pantry staples and get everyone involved! If you live in one of our Lennar homes, you’ll have no trouble rounding up the family in your spacious chef-inspired kitchen – equipped with stainless steel appliances as part ofLennar’s Everything’s Included® package. The older kids can cut some veggies, while the little ones help with easier tasks, like measuring ingredients or setting the table. This will give your family a new appreciation for what they eat, while keeping them busy.

3. Do a workout with the kids.

Let’s face it, sitting in your chair all day isn’t exactly good practice. So, why not get back on that health kick and bring your kids along? There are plenty of fun and easy home workouts both parents and children can enjoy. For example, engage in some friendly competition by racing across the room or put on some upbeat music and show off your dance moves. Now, before you get started, make sure you have enough space for the whole family to move around. ParklandBay, a community of move-in ready estate homes in Parkland, offers spacious floorplans to ensure your family has plenty of room to spread out and exercise indoors.

4. Immerse yourself in a virtual experience.

Much to our dismay, many vacations and outings have been put on hold due to the current situation. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t travel from the comfort of our own homes. National parks, museums, and theaters all over the country are providing free, virtual programs, so your family can explore picturesque views, watch live performances, and tour new destinations online. For residents of Palomino Lake, a charming townhome community in Davie, this viewing experience will be further elevated by Lennar’s standard Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ Home Design, which delivers unsurpassed connectivity from every part of the home.

5. Head outdoors and enjoy some sunshine!

The trick to staying sane during these difficult times is to go out into nature, even if it’s just your backyard. Simply sitting outside and getting your daily dose of vitamin D can help you reconnect and enjoy some much-needed serenity. Sierra Ranches, a luxurious community of estate homes in Davie, was designed to embrace the outdoors and provide a haven of relaxation for homeowners, all in the privacy of their own oversized backyards. With ample room for a garden and lounge area, you can bask in Florida’s year-round sunshine while the kids play their favorite games.

With these five easy tips, we hope you’ll be able to spruce up your daily routine and enjoy some family fun. If you’re interested in learning more about Lennar’s Broward communities, gives us a call and ask about our virtual home-buying experience! Stay safe!

Dallas. Fort Worth. Texas. Those few names alone conjure a whole world of images and thoughts, from cowboys to country music, from foodie capital to one of the nation’s largest collections of Fortune 500 companies, from a colorful past to a dynamic future.

Just as the Metroplex looms large in the state, nation and world—in the imagination and in innovation—so, too, do Dallas-Fort Worth’s 200-plus municipalities scattered in a metropolitan area larger than the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined.

Deciding where to live in such an awe-inspiring place could be far more difficult were it not for Lennar’s 87 communities, with new homes for sale from Fort Worth to Forney, Anna to Arlington, Sunnyvale to Southlake and everywhere in between.

The city of Dallas scoops up awards like Texans scoop up bowls of chili, the state dish. “U.S. News & World Report” listed Dallas among the top 25 of “Best Places to Live in the USA” in 2019, while also last year chic Bon Appétit magazine bestowed Dallas with its coveted “Restaurant City of the Year.”

Fort Worth rounds up its share of recognition, too. ArtFairSourceBook.com ranked MAIN ST. the nation’s third-best fine-arts event, and in 2019, the historic city earned quite the unique prize: the National Wildlife Federation’s Monarch Butterfly Champion City.

There’s more. Much more. Municipalities throughout the Metroplex reap multiple honors. Grand Prairie, McKinney and Frisco scored among the likes of Seattle, San Francisco and Denver in a 2019 analysis of the nation’s top 150 “Most Dynamic Urban Centers.”

Lennar lives in all of these amazing places, offering something for everyone. Plus, Everything’s Included® in Lennar’s homes, adding even more value with built-in features most other homebuilders consider add-ons, passing the costs on to you.

Lennar keeps pace with DFW’s dynamism and growth, with a half-dozen new communities coming soon. You can even schedule a private self-tour for a safe and simple way to find Lennar home. Here are just a few of the exciting Lennar communities coming soon:

Everything really is bigger—and better— in Texas and to help you bring the Metroplex’s outsized homebuying opportunities down to a manageable size, the Dallas-Fort Worth Internet New Home team at (866) 314-4477 is open now.

There are tons of ways to keep the kids busy with things lying around the house. From the always-classic tin-can phone, to brand new ideas to keep them entertained, these projects are fun to do together—or to turn them loose for some much needed you-time.

Tin Can Phone

A classic. Just a couple of tin cans and some string. Use a hammer and nail to punch a hole in the bottom of some empty tin cans, push some string through, and knot it so it stays. You can up your game by making a holder with spare string or a small scrap of wood. This will allow it to vibrate cleanly so you get the best sound. This project may be a great way to stay in touch with a close neighbor from a distance. Some people have made working tin can phones as long as 650 feet!

Stamp It Out

Making custom stamps is a great way to flex the creative muscle. If you have some craft foam, you can trace and cut out designs or letters. Then, just glue them to a wine cork, bottle cap or other small, easy-to-grip item. These small stamps are perfect sign-offs for thank you notes and letters to friends and family.

Bowling For Pigs

Get the kids off the phones and making something fun to do with their hands! With a few tin cans, a ball, and some paint, this family made an Angry Birds bowling set. They just painted the cans as the green pigs, and painted a bird face on a ball they had around the house. The kids could even take turns building pillow forts for the pigs and trying to knock them down by tossing the “birds”. Just be sure to stick around and make sure the throws don’t get too out of control!

Really Artistic Jewelry

Someone had the brilliant idea to cut beads out of colored pencils! Using a tiny hacksaw with a small blade (a jewelry saw, or even a serrated knife could do in a pinch) cut colored pencils down to bead sizes. A little sandpaper smooths out the rough cuts. Then, just drill a small hole to string them through. You can use the sharpened ends for statement pieces, or glue pieces together to create a brooch. Mix and match colors to make a look that’s all your own.

Paper Character Masks

With a little construction paper, glue, and string, you can create an eye mask of just about character you can think of. If you’re feeling extra crafty, you can use felt and iron-ons to make soft masks, like they do here. But you may just get inspired by checking out their super-hero looks. The trick is layering. Start with a base mask cutout, then add detailing as you go with other colors. Hair, glasses, and embellishments can all be added on top of the base.

Despite the loads of complex video games, the truth is it doesn’t take much to keep kids entertained. With just a few items around the house you can keep them busy making their own jewelry, masks, or even a game to play! And the coolest part of these projects is that you can make them as simple (or as detailed) as you want. Looking for more tips to stay busy around the house? Find activities, home improvements, fun ideas and more by liking Lennar on Facebook.

If you’ve recently been assigned with the daunting task of homeschooling your children, don’t panic. We’ve put together some helpful tips for you to consider as you and the kids start this new adventure. Just remember, things aren’t going to be perfect from the get-go, so allow yourself some flexibility and don’t be afraid to get creative. You’ll learn more day by day and can continue to improve your new role!

Consult your new students

Before you even start setting up a classroom for your little ones, talk to them. Since they’ll be the ones learning, get their opinions on what they want and need in order to be comfortable. But don’t just do this before – continue to do it every day. After the (home)school day is done, ask them what worked and what didn’t. Nothing will be perfect at first, but with a little feedback from your student, you can continue to work on delivering the best possible experience for them.

Gather your materials

Create a checklist of everything your child is going to need. Get the essentials, like a whiteboard to create a schedule, writing and art supplies, Post-it Notes and clipboards so they can take their work outside. To create a fun learning space, consider pictures or artwork, lighting and comfortable chairs. Purchase storage supplies like drawers, bookshelves and baskets to keep everything organized and for easy cleaning (especially if you’re going to set up in a main living area).

Find a work surface

The most important factor should be comfort! Your students are going to be sitting down for long periods of time, so choose a surface where they can spread out their materials in a way that doesn’t create a busy environment. Spaces in your home that you can transform into your classroom include kitchen islands, dining room table, their bedroom, dens, loft or even your patio table. Their new learning space doesn’t actually have to look like a classroom!

Stick to a routine

The best way for the kids to get into the groove of things is to get them into a routine and follow a schedule. Set their alarms, have meals and snacks, break time and start and end the school day at the same time every day. While you never know what a day might bring, having some structure will provide some normalcy for everyone!

Go outside

Fresh air does wonders for physical and mental health, so don’t forget to factor in some well-deserved playtime outside for the kids (and yourself)! Get everyone moving – let the kids walk the dog, get some physical education going with a jog, hike or jump rope, eat lunch at the park or take one of your lessons outside to the backyard.

Eagle Home Mortgage and Equal Lending

With the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic causing local, state and federal health authorities to put shelter-in-place requirements into effect for most if not all cities for public safety precautions, families are spending more time than ever before in the confines of their own home.

While having the entire family together at home every day may be a source of comfort, with it comes a much larger reliance on the electricity needed to power electronic devices such as computers and televisions, kitchen appliances, heating, cooling, clothes washing, lighting and dish washing. That larger than normal energy usage results in a much larger utility bill at month’s end.

Homeowners in Santa Rita Ranch and Malone take advantage of the solar technology made possible by Lennar and SunStreet Energy Group, which converts the most clean and abundant natural energy source – the sun – into electricity on their rooftops.

Solar production from these families’ rooftops can be used to help offset what they would otherwise pay to their local utility. Then, the local utility company powers their home and they pay only the balance after their credit for solar energy produced. That means there may be cost savings each month, allowing families to spend that extra money on shopping, travel, entertainment, dining and other sources of fun, once these temporary distancing guidelines come to an end.

Families can also benefit from the knowledge that they are helping to protect the environment for generations to come by producing energy from a renewable source. This is an important factor for many families who make purchasing decisions with a keen eye on social responsibility.

Best of all, homes in Lennar’s Solar Communities include solar monitoring with SunStreet’s Lease Program. With solar monitoring, homeowners can keep track of their solar production and chart their home’s trends all within an easy to use mobile app.

An expert technician will complete a remote activation as well as an in-home system orientation by request, when available. Once the system has been activated, a Solar Advisor is available to help with any needs or questions they may have. Additionally, homeowners have access to program specific videos and frequently asked questions on the My SunStreet website.

When considering a new home for sale in Austin, Lennar stands out for its gorgeous home designs suited for every lifestyle, desirable neighborhood locations with nearby schools and access to business, shopping and entertainment, and features such as the Everything’s Included® initiative for connectivity, efficiency, luxury and simplicity, Next Gen® home within a home multigenerational layouts and Legacy Series floor plans exclusive for 55+ audiences. Lennar’s Solar Communities add an entirely new benefit to home ownership, and may help you save money and benefit the environment in the process.
