The SF Chronicle recently published an update on Lennar’s The San Francisco Shipyard masterplan community. Covering the community’s ongoing headway to start another phase of construction to provide much needed housing in the area, the article also highlighted the community’s incredible price points for new homes within the city. Current homeowners spoke with the reporter on their experience  owning and living in the masterplan.

The next phase of construction is aimed to provide 77 new homes in total, with work beginning this year.

And homeowners, such as Troy Wilson, are excited to see new development pick up again. After moving to the Shipyard with his family, Wilson, who is a real estate agent and has brokered several home sales within the community, talked about the value of the new home construction and the area’s plethora of sunshine.

The flat is just drenched with sunlight,” said Wilson in the story for The Chronicle.

Talking about the value he sees in the new homes for sale at The SF Shipyard, Wilson also told The Chronicle:

“Before COVID you dreamed about being in one of the old true San Francisco neighborhoods,” Wilson Said. “But here we are all working from home, and no one is gathering in restaurants or bars like we used to.”

2020 was the moment for home improvement projects, as homeowners came to the realization that we would all be spending more time at home. What’s next after the DIY projects are complete? We’ve featured three major design trends to revitalize your space in 2021.

Home Decor Trends

Layered Rugs: Double the Rugs, Double the Coziness

If there’s anything this year can guarantee, it’s that the layered rug trend is here to stay. Layering rugs in your home creates a softer, warmer statement without overwhelming the space. It’s also a great way to add visual interest in shared common spaces, such as the living room. How to get the look right, so that your space exudes that custom feel? Choose two rugs to layer that feature opposing textures to balance each other out. Natural materials like jute look oh-so-inviting with a cool, vintage-style rug placed over it. If your design style leans into the bold side, mix two patterned rugs within the same color palette. This trendy touch looks both intentional and artsy.

Incorporate Pops of Color into a Neutral Room

When decorating your home, it’s a smart play to ground your rooms with a neutral palette. However, don’t get lost in beige despair. You can easily experiment with fun hues and pops of color with any budget. If you are dipping your toes into the world of color, a foolproof technique is to start small. Use accessories like a patterned throw blanket or bold euro pillows to style your existing bedding. Give your entryway a serious sense of arrival by opting for a colorful rug or runner, which is both striking and practical. Saturated hues or lively patterns are excellent at hiding dirt and debris in high traffic areas. Plus, a rug with colors that already exist in your home provide a preview of what’s to come inside.

Mix Design Styles for a Personal Touch That’s Uniquely You

When developing your own home decorating style, it’s important to consider who will be living in the space. Maybe you prefer a modern interior, but your partner is into rustic finishes. No one has to lose on this one. By fusing the very best of two distinct styles— Scandinavian’s warmth and the Japanese’s minimalist spirit, a new style was birthed: “Japandi.” This perfect marriage works on several different styles, like the blend of farmhouse comforts with worldly traditional featured in our new Alexander Estates model in Tomball, TX. The pops of green that carry throughout the neutral color scheme of this spacious 2,273 square foot home provide a memorable impression. By mixing modern finishes like industrial lighting with organic dough bowls and striking Florentine candleholders, this model offers tons of interior inspiration.
