As we kiss the sweet sunshine of summer goodbye and say hello to cool breezes, falling leaves, and pumpkin-flavored treats, we find ourselves wondering how we can bring the seasonal change into our spaces without being over the top or kitschy.

If you take a peek at the season’s latest trends, you’ll find that there are tons of simple things you can do to make your space Fall-ready. From shiny details to layered textiles, subtle accents and accessories will majorly refresh your space. So put down the pumpkins and continue reading to find out how you can give your space a sophisticated Fall revamp!

  1. Incorporate fall colors.

Mulberry, maroon, and camel, eggplant, olive, and navy — these on-trend colors trigger the snug spirit of Autumn. Fall is the time to embrace the dark side and let more saturated hues into your space, so go for the season’s navy blues and deep reds for a sophisticated feel. If you’re not ready to commit to a new paint color, changing up your palette can be as easy as adding a plum-colored rug or swapping out a few pastel sofa pillows for darker ones.

  1. Bring out the books.

When the Fall air begins to roll in, so does the desire to cozy up in front of a fireplace with a warm cup of tea and a good book. Even if you have a non-working fireplace, update that area by decorating your mantle with scented candles, stacks of reading material, seasonal botanicals and gold-framed prints. If you don’t have a fireplace, you can emulate the look with a cozy chair, rug, and bookshelf in a corner of your space.

  1. Go for the gold.

The vivid gleam of gold always evokes the spirit of the holiday season, so start early with your gold accents. No need to go crazy and dip your entire living room in gold decor — simply add a few accessories here and there such as candlesticks, lamp bases, and silverware. Mixed metals are also on-trend this season, so don’t be afraid to work in some copper and brass details.

  1. Get cozy with knits and furs.

Soft furs and warm knits aren’t just stylish clothing articles to wear when the temperatures drop — they can work wonders in your space, too. Toss a chunky knit throw across your bedspread for use on those chillier evenings. Find a pair of chic faux fur pillows to warm up your couch décor. Create some rustic charm with sheepskin rugs or toss a few shearling throws over living and dining room chairs.
