10 Things to Deep Clean this Spring

Spring is in full swing! If you’re itching to give your home it’s annual deep clean, below are some spring cleaning tips to help you make the most of your time and effort. There’s nothing more satisfying than having a freshly cleaned home!

1.Windows

Grab a microfiber cloth and your favorite glass cleaner, and clean EVERY window in your home, instead of just cleaning the interior side of them. Avoid cleaning your windows when direct sunlight is hitting them, to prevent streaks.

2.Countertops

The key to preventing granite and countertop stains is to clean spills as soon as they happen. It’s important to pamper your countertops a few times a year by whipping out a good stone polish to restore shine and help protect the surface from potential stains.

3.Tiled Surfaces

Clean bathroom and kitchen tiles with a cleaner that has a “neutral pH” on the label. You can also mix ½ cup baking soda and 2 gallons of water for a homemade cleaner. Then apply the liquid with a string mop or sponge mop.

4.Fridge

Take out EVERYTHING! Remove all of your produce, condiments and snacks, and check for expired groceries to throw out. Wash the shelves and bins with warm, soapy water, and before placing everything back in the fridge – wipe down the remainder of the surfaces before putting shelves and bins back in their place.

5.Closets

Spring is a great time of year to declutter and organize your closets. It’s often the first step to organizing the rest of your home. Take this time to get rid of any unused clothes and accessories you have not used in the past year. Donate or trash all of your unwanted items, and organize the rest by how you get dressed in the morning, or by color. Your closet will look more appealing, and your everyday routine will be much easier!

6.Junk Drawer

We all have a junk drawer for miscellaneous items. It’s good to clean and “organize” it once in a while! Simply take everything out of the drawer, and if any items have a “home” elsewhere in your home, store them away appropriately. Then add small containers in the drawer to help keep you junk organized.

7.Cabinets

Over time, build-up can collect in your cabinets – especially if you don’t run the exhaust hood over your range while you cook to keep grease from settling. Use a Kitchen Cabinet cleanser to cut through the dirt and leave your cabinets moisturized!

8.Ceilings

Your ceilings are spots that don’t get cleaned regularly! Take some time to grab an extended duster and go through all of the molding and ceilings in your home.

9.Floors

Flooring should be maintained regularly throughout the year. Wood and tile flooring should be swept and carpet should be vacuumed often. Bring in professionals 1-3 times of year to get your floors deep cleaned and fresh!

10.Area Rugs

Good news! You don’t have to clean these things every single year. It recommended you should clean them every four or five years – or every ten years if a rug is not walked on much. Over-cleaning these can contribute to wear and tear. You can treat stains at home with club soda!
