Gossamer Grove resident and dog activist, Sheryl Taylor, along with Kern River Blue Star Moms, Titan Dog Training, the City of Shafter, and Lennar, will celebrate the debut of a statue honoring military working dogs. The special event will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11 am, at the first dog park at Gossamer Grove. Gossamer Grove is located at 7th Standard and Calloway in Shafter. The dog park is part of a larger, new agriculture-themed play space, Farm Park.
A bronze plaque will be presented to Lennar to add to the military working dog statue as a commemorative piece to dedicate the statue in honor of military service dogs. The plaque was donated and created by the Kern River Blue Star Moms.
The statue will be at the entrance to the dog park, which is located at the southwest corner of the new Farm Park. The dog park will have an area for large dogs and a separate area for small dogs. In addition to the dog park, Farm Park will also have pickleball and basketball courts and farm-themed play structures. Farm Park is being touted as an excellent addition to the amenities available to homeowners at Gossamer Grove.
Event goers are encouraged to bring new or gently used dog toys to the event to donate to local veteran dog training organization, Titan Dog Training. The City of Shafter will also be onsite to help residents license their dogs with the city. Attendees just need to bring proof of their dog’s most recent rabies vaccination.
