On September 24, Lennar hosted a Welcome Home Ceremony for Sergeant Travis Blackman, a decorated U.S. Army veteran, as he received the keys to his new home in the Percheron community in Colorado Springs. This special event honored Sergeant Blackman’s service and sacrifice while highlighting our commitment to supporting heroes through our collaboration with Helping a Hero and Norwood Development Group.
Sergeant Blackman served honorably in the U.S. Army from 2008 to 2016, earning numerous accolades for his bravery and dedication. His military career included serving in the 82nd Airborne Division and deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Despite being paralyzed from the chest down after his discharge, Sergeant Blackman remains a beacon of resilience and determination, inspiring his children and community.
His new home at Percheron features an open-concept layout, which will enable him to navigate the floorplan comfortably. This customized housing solution is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Lennar, Helping a Hero and Norwood Development Group in providing vital support to military personnel who have suffered severe injuries.
