Top schools: One of many reasons why families move to Forsyth County

Recently, Forbes ranked Forsyth County as the seventh-fastest growing county nationwide, and the county continues to draw new residents, in particular families and young professionals.

Located along the northern arc of the metropolitan Atlanta area, Forsyth County offers access to many fine dining establishments, a good variety of entertainment including great opportunities for outdoor activities, cultural events, and has built a top quality, award-winning school system. Major employers include Scientific Games Inc. and Northside Hospital-Forsyth, while more than 60 international companies have also established themselves here.

Earlier this year, Lennar Atlanta opened Mountain Crest in Forsyth County. This master-planned community includes different single-family neighborhoods with homes on 60 ft., 75 ft., and 90 ft. lots; Stablegate at Mountain Crest, a vibrant townhome community; and Bridlewood at Mountain Crest, a collection of single-level homes. Homes will range from the high $200s – $600s.

Mountain Crest families will be served by Forsyth Central High School, and earlier in June, the community hosted a “FCHS Meet & Greet” with Mitch Young, Principal of Forsyth Central High School. Mr. Young elucidated on making Forsyth Central High School the best in Forsyth County in this earlier article by Christina LaPlaca. (Click here for the full story).

In regards to our culture, we are really working hard with our feeder schools, like Cumming Elementary and Otwell Middle School, to try and raise the expectations within our school, and even beyond graduation. We urge them to think about how we should be helping students to receive acceptance from flagships like UGA and Georgia Tech, whether they plan to attend or not.

We want to remember that we open the doors every day for students, so our policies should line up with our goal with making this the place where kids want to be and where parents want to send their kids.”

FCHS excels in academics, arts and athletics, and includes the STEM Academy at Forsyth. The STEM Academy focuses on Biotechnology, Engineering, Advanced Math and Science, and combines rigorous core classes with career-technological course offerings to give students real-world experience.
