You’ve done the backyard obstacle courses, the socially distanced driveway get-togethers, the Zoom game nights, and the drive-by birthday celebrations. Your patience has been tested, your home redecorated, and your creativity pushed to the max… 2020 was HARD! And while the future looks bright, we’re not out of the woods quite yet.
As we all continue to hibernate at home for winter, we too, have pushed our creative limits to bring you three more at-home activities to keep you feeling fit, entertained, and satisfied at home a bit longer.
Lennar floorplans are expertly designed to maximize space and offer homebuyers a variety of options when it comes to customizations. Some floorplans allow you to turn a bonus room or loft into another bedroom or potentially an office. However, if you opted to keep your bonus room as initially planned, it’s the perfect space to transform for indoor activities, especially during the winter months. Here are a few ideas:
Home Gym:
What is the most common New Year’s resolution of all time? “Exercise more.” While health and fitness goals are important, going to the gym and staying fit is more challenging than ever! Gyms and fitness studios are either closed or risky these days. So what’s the next best thing? A home gym! Transform your bonus room, spare room, or even your garage into a home fitness studio. A few simple online purchases, such as a yoga mat, dumbbells, and resistance bands will allow you to reach your fitness goals. Stream an online class, crank up the tunes and get your whole family together, “hello at-home workout buddies!” You can also create stations (i.e. Squats at station 1, jumping jacks at station 2, so you can hold each other accountable and keep each other motivated.
Movie Nights:
How long has it been since you went out for dinner and a movie? If you’re missing watching flicks on the big screen, why not host a movie night at home! A mini projector is an affordable way to up your at-home-movie-theater game. Order one like this, or this straight to your home, hook it up, and choose a new film to show on movie night. Fill the floor with fluffy pillows, blankets, and cushions, pop some popcorn or order take-out from your favorite local restaurant, pour the adults a glass of wine, collect phones at the door, dim the lights, and boom – movie night but better!
Put on a Show:
Quarantine has forced many of us to get creative with how we spend our time, interact with our families, and keep traditions alive. Its also caused many of us to spend an exhausting amount of time on our laptops, smartphones and watching Netflix. Shut it all down, just for a day or even a few hours to do something fun and creative as a family. One way to do this is to get the kiddos together and brainstorm a concept for a play. Brainstorm together and write out a script that involves everyone in your family as a character. Create props out of household items and arts-and-crafts projects. Incorporate fun tunes with a little help of Lennar’s smart home, voice-activated technology, and do a few practice and rehearsal rounds. Once you’re feeling confident in your play, surprise grandparents, friends, and family with a Zoom video performance, you’ll have fun as a family, can get creative, and you’ll bring joy to others!
Looking for the good in unprecedented times is all well and good, but it’s also okay to acknowledge the difficulties this year has brought. We’re all doing the best we can, and while there’s hope for a brighter 2021, it’s looking like we’ll all be staying home a little while longer. So hold your loved ones tight, stay healthy, and continue to push your creativity and practice patience.
