The beautiful city of South Elgin was established in 1897. Today, homebuyers enjoy a unique opportunity in the town, just east of Chicago, to reinvent their lifestyles and upgrade their homes where serenity meets big-city vibrancy.

Welcome to Park Pointe Traditional Townhomes and Park Pointe Urban Townhomes, two collections of new Lennar homes designed for the 21st-century homeowner. Tucked between major thoroughfares and historic South Elgin, located along the banks of the tranquil Fox River.

Each Park Pointe townhome provides the same elegance, such as GE® stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops in the kitchen, quartz countertops in the lavish owner’s bath and FutureReady smart-home technology in The Connected Home by Lennar™.

The community itself boasts a park, and townhome living includes fully maintained lawns. Indeed, Everything’s Included® in every new Lennar home. That’s Lennar’s signature suite of upgrades most other homebuilders consider as add-ons, passing all of those costs on to you.

Park Pointe townhomes

Everything is included in Park Pointe’s value-rich setting, too. Virtually around the corner from Park Pointe, an unparalleled array of nature preserves and parks await Lennar homebuyers. South Elgin’s parks and recreation department boasts 200 acres of park land and protected natural areas. The department even has an “Adopt-a-Park” program that is available to all city dwellers!

There’s more. Much more. A quarter-mile from Park Pointe, Koehler Fields offers football, soccer, lacrosse and ballfields. The Illinois Prairie Path, one of the nation’s largest rails-to-trails systems, runs alongside the Lennar community.

Shopping? In addition to South Elgin’s charming shops, several malls are nearby, including Elgin Shopping Mall located just 5 miles from Park Pointe. Dining? South Elgin’s homegrown bistros, downtown Chicago’s gourmet restaurants and everything in between cater to a foodie’s every taste.

Park Pointe offers a remarkable home for families, too. The community’s schools are all within 5 miles. Clinton Elementary School and Kenyon Middle School, just a mile away, backs up to the Kenyon Farm Forest Preserve. Nearby, state-of-the-art South Elgin High school is known for above-average measures of student college and career readiness.

In the 90s it was all pastels and brass accents, then in the early 2000s we got a bit country with farmhouse-style barn doors and shabby chic furniture, which was followed by the 2010s minimalistic all neutral-everything phase – so where does that bring us in 2021?

While interior design will always be a subjective form of self expression, there’s no denying a good trend. Here are our favorites of the year:

Playful Maximalism Color

The sharp shift from neutrals, beiges and “all-white-everything” homes of the past to the funky, colorful decor of today may give some whiplash. But we can’t help ourselves from being drawn to the free-spirited combination of colorful prints, patterns, and pops of color.

For interior inspiration checkout Dina Bandman Interiors (@dinabandmaninteriors), De Gourdnay (@degournay), The House that Colour Built (@thehousethatcolourbuilt) and Joanna Plant (@joannaplantinteriors) on Instagram. You’ll notice a variety of themes from floral patterned curtains paired with floral patterned wallpaper, bedrooms with teal walls, ceilings and blue tiled floors, and brightly colored vintage furniture. This maximist look is fun because it can go in a few different directions – English countryside, American cottage, 1960s funkytown, or sweet and preppy.

To bring a bit of this trend into your own home, we recommend starting small like mixing and matching a few boldly patterned throw pillows, trying out some new patterned curtains or getting really into it with a temporary wallpaper in a small room in your home, like the bathroom. Play with colors and make this bold trend work for you and your home.

Flutes & Sculptural Design:

This trend is modern, European and highly sophisticated. Themes that fall into this trend include moody, monochromatic spaces, fluted vessels, organically textured sculptures, and curvy furniture.

For interior inspiration checkout Ashley Kane (@ashleykane), Liv Fraser (@oliviagroome) and Alice Lane Interior Design (@alicelaneinteriors) all of which are fantastic sources when it comes to mastering this highly-curated look. When scouring these accounts for inspiration, you’ll notice some common themes – like mid-century-style furniture, rooms with all four walls and the ceiling painted in a single moody color, ribbed Italian glass light fixtures and chandeliers, vintage accents, and Boucle fabric. As with all trends, we recommend incorporating a few pieces at a time before overhauling every room in the house.

A few ways you can bring this sophisticated design trend into your own home is by painting a bedroom – floor to ceiling in one color such as Country Charm’ by Kelly Moore. You can go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and have them match this color with the paint of your choosing. You can also incorporate a few pieces of furniture – such as a Boucle-like fabric chair like this one from World Market. Or you can opt for a few crystal vessels, some fluted wall sconces, sculpted candle holders or an alabaster lamp.

Coastal Calm & Preppy

It’s hard to call any design resembling that of “coastal” to a trend. This look is as old as the ocean itself – it’s classic, serene and universally loved. But we feel compelled to include it because while the overall look is timeless – the take on the theme keeps getting better and better.

Some of our favorite coastal inspiration comes from Serena & Lily (@serenaandlily), Shelley Johnstone Paschke (@shelleyjohnstonedesign), Gretchen Black (@gretchenblack), and The Traditional List (@thetraditionallist). These accounts are filled with charming pops of coastal color, seagrass and sisal, elegant paisley and floral patterns, thoughtfully mixed matched designs and subtle antique accents.

In many cases, an elegant coastal home weaves traditional elements with coastal colors and texture to achieve an elevated design. Say goodbye to kitsch seashell lamps and “this way to the beach” signs – it’s all about evoking a sense of the coast in your home – not bringing home the boardwalk gift shop. To invoke a bit of the preppy coastal vibes seen in the accounts above into your own home – we recommend wallpapering a bedroom with a pretty paisley pattern, or painting an existing piece of furniture a shade of periwinkle or blue.  Another way to bring a bit of the coastal vibe inside is by using rattan textured accents like a rattan plant pot, a sisal rug, or a woven lampshade or chair.

After a challenging and at times, let’s face it, gloomy 2020 – we could all use a little bit of fun. And what better way to add a bit of fun than by adding pops of bright funky colors, patterns and organic textures into your home? We’re loving the direction this year is taking in design and can’t wait to see how you incorporate these trends into your own homes. Happy decorating!

Finding Father’s Day Weekend events close to home in Dallas-Fort Worth is a snap. Here are a few ideas to celebrate the hero of his holiday:

Take Dad for a Father’s Day cruise on Lake Lewisville, just 30 miles from Elements at Viridian. Boarding the “Miss Gloria” sounds glorious, but it gets better: The community of new homes for sale in Arlington, TX, is designed exclusively for 55+, so here’s a chance to invite Grandad—and Dad—for the afternoon kids cruise or the adults-only voyage at dusk.

On the other side of dazzling downtown Dallas—with a stop along the way at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for the Classic Chassis Car Club show and live music with oldies rock ‘n’ roll cover bands—Forney features a feast of Father’s Day fun.

Lennar’s Overland Grove community of new homes for sale in Forney, TX, lies just minutes away from the historic and charming town center. There, he can tap into his inner artist at the Downtown Forney Summer Art Show Pop-Up (runs the Saturday before Father’s Day).

We know our main man is frame-worthy in his own right. Take him to Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center, just 22 miles from Overland Grove, for the “He’s My Hero” photoshoot.

Or how about this? Gift him with a brand … new … puppy! If Pops is a pet pal, the Rockwall Pets Adoption Event takes place a mere 7 miles from Reserve at Chamberlain Crossing. Lennar’s new homes for sale in Fate, TX, make great homes for man’s best friend, too.

Why not throw a backyard BBQ to celebrate dad this year? In downtown Royse City, just 5 miles away from the Lennar community, Joe’s Meat Market fires up the grill with a manly menu of brisket, ribs, chicken and pork loin.

Let’s say Dad just wants to stay at home. All the Lennar communities here—Elements at Veridian,  Overland Grove and Reserve at Chamberlain—boast a swimming pool, clubhouse and picnic area, among other resort-style amenities for the perfect relaxing Dad’s Day.

The thing about dads is that they bring everything to the table. Lennar’s new homes do, too. Everything’s Included® in every new Lennar home with a package of upgrades included as standard- which most other homebuilders consider add-ons, passing the costs on to you.

Another included feature? The Connected Home by Lennar™. If you’re still somehow at a loss for ways to celebrate Father’s Day, you can plug into the robust package of smart-home technology.

As the southern summer heat inches towards us, now is the perfect time to prep your yard for all of the outdoor entertaining this season holds. From backyard barbecues, to popsicles beside the pool, summer is meant for enjoying company- and your home. Make sure your lawn is in its best shape with these summer gardening tips.

Prepping

The first crucial step to your dream backyard involves a bit of spring cleaning. Make sure all of your tools and equipment are accessible and ready for use. Blowing away fallen leaves, picking up twigs or tidying up pine straw are all great places to start. You can prepare your flower beds by digging out all weeds and spreading new soil, which will allow for your future plants to grow healthy in a region of new nutrients. These simple actions will refresh your existing lawn for a minimal cost.

It’s All in the Details

Finish off your perfect personal paradise with some unique plants. Utilizing color is an easy way to create interest in your yard and can even reflect some personality. Lennar Homes values this uniqueness and tailors homes to distinctive lifestyles, allowing you to create your ideal backyard at your dream home.

Consider adding a tropical hibiscus to the center of your space. These beautiful flowers are reasonably priced at your local garden center and can last all season, continuously blooming in the Carolina sun. They come in a variety of color variations and add a tropical flair to any setting. Knockout roses are also a staple for any garden space, with their rich pink or red color.

If you have an area with some shade, think about adding hydrangeas. These flowering bushes are perfect if you have a larger space to fill. Hydrangeas come in a variety of hues, including blue, pink, white and more. Similarly, azaleas can provide bright color in a similar setting. They fair particularly well in the South and can withstand morning sun.

Incorporating Life into Your Outdoor Entertainment Space

Lennar understands the importance of outdoor living in the summer, which is why we offer a plethora of new homes with space available for your gardening needs. To maximize your outdoor entertainment space, consider adding hanging baskets to porches and arbors. Plants ideal for hanging include ferns, petunias, or impatiens. Adding life to these areas creates an outdoor living room and a scene of vibrancy.

Another great way to change up your yard is to plant fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Not only does this beautify your backyard, but it also creates a family-friendly activity that lasts throughout the summer and beyond. Check what seeds are in-season at your local garden center and get to enjoying fresh food from your newly reimagined backyard!

With your new home by Lennar, already equipped with Everything’s Included® and Connected Home features, these tips will help you to enjoy your garden and your home in no time.
