The beloved phrase is said to have originated in the early 1980s, when Anne Herbert, a California writer, scrawled on a restaurant placemat: “Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty.” Now it’s the heart of a national holiday, in fact, an entire week.

Random Acts of Kindness Day falls on Feb. 17, and #RandomActofKindnessWeek runs through Feb. 20, coinciding, incidentally, with Jell-O Week and Flirting Week.

The nonprofit Random Acts of Kindness Foundation initiated the holiday to “make kindness an inspirational aspect of people’s lives,” DaysoftheYear.com says.  So today, Lennar offers some ways to spread the love and pay it forward, especially in these most trying times.

Send an unexpected text. Write a LinkedIn recommendation. Offer mentorship. Snail-mail a handwritten note. Scrawl inspirational words on a Post-it Note to leave for a neighbor.

Turns out DFW is filled with RAKtivists, as the foundation calls spontaneous do-gooders.

In Fort Worth, a woman at a Starbucks paid for the person behind her, setting off a chain of java-generosity that lasted at least an hour, CBS 11 reported. At a Fort Worth McDonald’s, a mystery man handed out $100 bills to random passersby, according to CBS DFW

Wouldn’t you know, Lennar offers new homes for sale in Fort Worth, TX, the all-American city that’s home to those benevolent Texans. The Llano Springs community features nine generous new-home designs in Lennar’s amenities-rich Primrose Crossing and Watermill.

Another example of the Metroplex’s incidental generosity: A Dallas woman routinely hands out 50 uplifting notes and gift cards to folks she sees during her frequent trips in and out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Again, a Lennar community, Phillips Creek Ranch, with new homes for sale in Frisco, TX, lies just 21 miles from such bustling largesse.

Just 17 miles from there, Lennar’s Aspen Meadows community offers an ideal setting for homeowners to commit random acts of kindness. The city, steeped in 18th-century history, features homegrown restaurants and farmers markets that thrive on family-friendly support. Experience the love with one of Lennar’s new homes for sale in Aubrey, TX.

As with all of Lennar’s new homes, Everything’s Included®. That’s Lennar’s generous suite of upgrades that other homebuilders add on as costly extra “features.”

Every hero deserves to be homeward bound eventually. After all, no matter their deed or dedication, a hero has no greater impact than when they bring their love safely back home to their family.

That’s why the Northeast Florida Division of Lennar resolved to team up with Operation FINALLY HOME, a non-profit that has been providing housing to veterans, first responders, and widows of the fallen for just over 15 years.

The two businesses scoured Northeast Florida for a veteran they could bestow an affordable home to as a means of honoring their dedication and bravery.

Thus, in September of 2020, Lennar was honored to witness the impact their dedication had on local military hero Bradley Thomas — a retired sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps.

On Sept. 28, 2020, Lennar and Operation FINALLY HOME hosted a surprise groundbreaking ceremony to welcome the Thomas family home to their newest mortgage-free house in Lennar’s Amelia Walk community.

“We offer programs specifically to help service members like Sgt. Thomas and his family. That’s why so many of the homes we sold in this market have been to sailors, soldiers and veterans,” said Division President Matt Devereaux of Lennar Jacksonville. “It’s an honor for us at Lennar to give back to our military community. Providing this mortgage-free home for an incredible and deserving family is just the start. Supporting our military veterans is an important part of Lennar’s mission and always will be.”

Having grown up with a family whose personal history involved many years of military service, Thomas himself was committed to the same path and served a total of eight years with the U.S. Marine Corps.

As a result of his bravery and commitment, he had also received a number of accolades, including a Combat Action Ribbon (Afghanistan), two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal.

His career, however, was forever impacted on Jan. 11, 2011, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). After four years of continuing to serve despite his injuries —including spinal damage and back problems — Sgt. Thomas stepped away from military service in 2015.

Upon his return home, Sgt. Thomas became involved with a military non-profit that not only aided his journey, but offered him a job and kept him moving in the midst of a battle against PTSD and continued physical pain.

Thus, he resolved to launch his own military non-profit, designed to provide veterans with guiding hunts and fishing charters as an outlet for healing.

When not involved in providing service for his fellow military veterans, he prefers to spend his time cooking, meditating, and playing sports and listening to music with his family — all of which he can now enjoy under the roof of his newest mortgage-free home.

“The coronavirus pandemic has certainly taught us how important home is, now more than ever,” Executive Director Rusty Carroll of Operation FINALLY HOME explained. “With that in mind, we’re honored to provide Bradley Thomas and his family with the gift of this home during these unprecedented times.”

As one of America’s largest and leading quality homebuilders, Lennar has an extensive history of making homeownership a more accessible endeavor for military veterans and families across the First Coast — and the nation.

Whether it be the proper way to recycle, tips for running your home efficiently, or other ways you can make your new home environmentally friendly, we’re here to help you make a positive impact on the environment with your new home! Not only will these tips help reduce your electric bill, and even help you decorate your home, they will also help the planet… from the comfort of your own home!

Here are our top 10 tips!

1.Use less paper products. By using less paper products, you’ll help save forests, and reduce the amount of waste your home produces. Less trash bags means less material being sent to landfills.

2. Put up window treatments. Not only will they add to the appeal inside your home, but they also help keep heat out and cool air in on hot days, reducing your energy usage.

eco-friendly home tips

3. Get a reusable water filter container. You’ll no longer need to buy those 24-pack of water bottles if you have a reusable filter. Less trips to the grocery store and less plastic waste.

4. Fill your dishwasher all the way. When you need to use your dishwasher, be sure to fill it as much as you can, making the use of that water the most efficient.

5. Recycle correctly. Recycle your bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. But be sure not to recycle plastic bags or anything smaller than a credit card, and make sure it is clean, empty and dry.

eco-friendly home tips with family

6. Use plants as home décor. Helping with your indoor air quality, house plants will also make your home more welcoming.

7. Use LED light bulbs. Change out any regular lightbulbs for energy efficient LED lightbulbs. They have a longer life, use less energy and will save you money down the line.

8. Wash your clothes in cold water. Even though your Lennar home is equipped with energy saving appliances, washing your clothes with cold water will reduce your carbon dioxide emission.

eco-friendly home tips

9. Use your smart thermostat. Automatically set your thermostat to match your schedule. Raise the temperature when no one is home, and cool only when it’s time for you to pull into the driveway.

10 Turn off your power strips. Switching the off switch on a power strip when it’s not in use will reduce the amount of energy used from things like TV’s and phone chargers.

Here’s to you helping us all make a more positive impact!

Whitestown—”it’s the real thing”, as they say in here in the small, charming town where the nation’s largest Coca-Colabottling company plans to open a massive facility in 2021. That’s also when Lennar will offer collections of new homes in the Jackson Run community.

Jackson Run provides homebuyers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a new home at incredible value in Indiana’s fastest-growing town. Surrounded by vast greenbelts and multiple parks, Jackson Run lies only about 6 miles from I-65 for instant access to Indianapolis’s cosmopolitan downtown just 24 miles away.

Tucked just minutes away from Whitestown’s historic Main Street, Jackson Run will showcase two highly desirable collections of new homes for sale in Whitestown, Indiana including the Venture and Cottage designs.

As with all new Lennar homes, Everything’s Included®. That means homebuyers will enjoy high-quality craftsmanship, along with standard features most other homebuilders add on as optional features and then those higher costs are passed on to you.

Whitestown city sign

The family-friendly town includes even more, with so many fun things to do all around Jackson Run. In Whitestown alone, no fewer than six parks are filled with such features as a pond, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds and walking, fitness and nature trails.

Whitestown also runs along the Big Four Trail Linear Park. Built on a former railbed, the paved pathway will ultimately stretch 50 miles and connect Whitestown with Zionsville, Lebanon and other quaint small towns nestled in the area’s verdant, rural, wooded scenery.

Also nearby, desirable Lebanon offers a spectacular array of recreational options.  Seashore Water Park, with pools, splash pads and giant water slides, and The Trophy Club, an 18-hole championship golf course, are within 15 miles of Jackson Run.

Abundant shopping choices are virtually around the corner. The Shoppes at Whitestown, just off I-65, include marquee retailers, while Whitestown’s central district is home to bicycle shops, bistros and cafes, a craft brewery and more.

Whitestown shopping center

World-class entertainment includes the Ruoff Music Center, an amphitheater with marquee concerts, just 32 miles away. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, within 20 miles of Jackson Run. Stroll or paddle down the Central Canal. Soak up nature and art at Newfields, which includes the Indianapolis Museum of Art galleries.

For higher-octane fun, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the iconic Indy 500, is just a couple dozen miles from home. Bankers Life Field House home of the NBA franchise Indiana Pacers, and Lucas Oil Stadium, where the Indianapolis Colts play to diehard hoosiers and NFL fans. Both are very convenient and a short 30 minute drive away

There’s even more in the new community that dates back to 1851—now the perfect setting for families and an ideal place for kids to grow up, Lebanon Community School Corp. serves Jackson Run with nearby schools earning high ratings from niche.com.

These days, single-family homes face a severe inventory shortage as buyers continue to take full advantage of extraordinarily low interest rates that help keep monthly payments down. “Current rates on a conventional, 30-year mortgage with a 20% down payment are at their lowest since at least 1971, helping to keep monthly mortgage payments exceptionally low — and affordability high — even as bottom-line prices keep rising.” reports a new study from Zillow. What does that mean for you in the coming months? Keep reading below to find out!

Houston’s housing market continues to soar to record-breaking highs, and with new home builders rushing to meet buyer demands, we don’t see that momentum ceasing anytime soon. However, fence-sitters be warned—the expansion of buying power, all thanks to COVID-19 impacted mortgage rate lows won’t last forever. “Waiting to buy in Houston could mean higher mortgage payments,” says a recent article from Houston Agent Magazine. As the economy recovers from the 2020 pandemic, rates are inevitably expected to tick upwards after the first quarter of 2021.

With interest rates expected to jump up from the current rate of 2.68%, averaging a mortgage payment of $740 to an increase of $833 if interest rates creep up to 3%, why wait? Lennar has several models opening in February, like the nuHome and Lennar community of Winward in Katy, TX offering 13 incredible floorplans starting from just the $180,000s. Winward is zoned to Peter McElwain ElementaryKaty Junior High, and Patricia E. Paetow High School, all boasting TEA District “A” ratings within Katy ISD. For families interested in transferring to one of the finest school districts in the Houston area, Winward’s affordable price point has an undeniable appeal.
