Joanne and Michael find their dream home and community in Heritage at Cadence.
Joanne Parsons and Michael Morrow lived in the area for years until one day, they decided to go check out a new development: Heritage at Cadence by Lennar, in Henderson, Nevada.
“One Saturday, we said, ‘Oh let’s go out for a drive and look at those new homes that are up off Galleria and Warm Springs,’ and then saw a sign for Cadence that said 55 and over community and thought, oh that sounds intriguing,” Joanne recalled. “That’s how we stumbled onto the model homes, we met Laurie (a Lennar New Home Consultant) and fell in love – the rest is history.”

After purchasing their new home last year and watching it be built in their new community, the married couple found themselves moving into their dream home with their dog Bella one week before Thanksgiving.
“We came in, we put up the tree, and we were actually all set-up in time to do Thanksgiving here. Just two other family members but, we did it,” Joanne said.

The couple moved into a 2,516-square foot single-story home in the community designated as the Residence Two plan, and immediately fell in love with several features of the home. For Michael, the four-bay RV-sized garage was a huge selling point.
“People keep asking me, ‘well when are you going to put an RV into that garage?’ and the truth is – I’m not going to!” Michael said, “I’ve gone through my RV stage and I wouldn’t be surprised if another car or two shows up over the years but I just love having the space to work on things. I have my own small work bench, I bought another work table and it’s just been fun. Assembling things we even bought for the new home – I have a place out in the garage to do that.”

They both also fell for the way the amount of space the contemporary open-concept layout provides.
“The big open floorplan allows us to be together no matter what we are doing for the most part. We can fit quite a few people in here very comfortably. And the bar in the corner is very cool to have,” Joanne said. “We were surprised how easily we were able to fill it up with things we’d normally have in the kitchen so it’s great. We love it.”
They both love the little design details that also made the space feel fresh and new, such as the included home automation features and the three panel sliding doors that open up to the outdoor living area.

“It will be really nice when we’re entertaining, or even when it’s just the two of us, because it opens up the space even more with our outdoor seating on the patio or by the fireplace,” Joanne said.

“While our home was being built and we would walk around the neighborhood to see what other people had done with their landscape,” Michael said, “everyone just said hello, introduced themselves and welcomed us to the community. It felt like home before we even moved in.”
Joanne continued, “Yeah, I think there’s a lot of likeminded people here. We’re all in similar situations in life and I suspect that this place has drawn a lot of people who enjoy cultivating and growing friendships. And I think that’s what we’re going to find as the years go by.”

Embrace a Simple Entryway

Wipe off all counters, invest in some stylish storage baskets for stowing away shoes and other items if needed. Consider a coat rack or key ring to hold smaller on-the-go pieces and then implement a plant or a photo you love that will give this small space some big life.
Kitchen Pantry Reboot

It happens to us all – whether we live alone, with just our partner or have a big family – an overfilled pantry and overflowing junk drawer just develops over time. Start with the pantry, pulling everything out, checking the expiration date and chucking everything that’s no longer usable in to the trash. Donate old items that haven’t expired and you know you won’t use. Then, wipe down the pantry shelves before restocking your fresh, new space. Do the same with junk drawers and the Tupperware storage!
Closet Clean-out
