Getting back into the swing of things can be challenging for most families every back to school season. Luckily, HGTV shares 10 easy ways to get your family back on schedule after a beautiful, but lazy summer!

1. Start Your Day with “Me” Time

Setting your alarm a few minutes before the chaos strikes and everyone in the house is awake will give you a little extra time to clear your head before beginning your day! This could just mean reading a few pages of your book, meditating or exercising!

2. Allotting Chore Cards

Print out some trendy chore cards and put them in the kids’ bathroom or bedroom to remind them of the things they need to do before heading out the door! Keeping these reminders in plain sight will help keep everyone focused!

3. Time’s Ticking!

Keeping clocks insight into common spaces in the morning to remind the kids what time they need to be getting things done before running to school!

4. Make a motivational playlist

Creating a soothing but motivational playlist for the morning is a creative way to keep everyone focused and moving. The kids will know by the time the final song plays that it’s time to go!

5. Organize Your Outfits

To minimize the morning rush, organize a weeks-worth of outfits for everyone! If this doesn’t work for your schedule, even laying out an outfit before bed the night before will save you some time in the morning.

6. Create a Breakfast Menu

We don’t mean literally…unless you want to. But rather than asking your little ones what they want for breakfast and ending up feeling like a commercial kitchen, give them a few choices to choose from!

7. Reminder Cards

Placing little reminders in each backpack the night before school will reduce forgotten lunches and that means no cafeteria “mystery meatloaf” for lunch.

8. Create Trendy Organizational Spaces

A corkboard could really be your best friend. You can turn the smallest spaces into an excellent reminding station for your family. Hang emergency contact information, extra copies of school schedules and those signed field trip permission slips.

9. Simplify Brushing Your Teeth

Keeping extra toothbrushes by the kitchen sink could finally put an end to the mad dash from the kitchen to the upstairs bathroom to the car. This will create a stress-free breakfast with the kids!

10. Organize Your Backseat

Pick up a trendy over-the-seat organizer for the kids in the car to stash extra granola bars and school supplies in the event something is forgotten at home – you’ll be ready and on time for school.

Another sun-filled summer in Central Florida is coming to an end, and ready or not it’s back to school for the kiddos. Summer is a popular time to move into a new neighborhood, it’s great to have a few months to acclimate yourself to a new area, make new friends and be ready to start the school year fresh.  If your family moved over the summer from a colder climate to sunny Florida, you may notice there aren’t as many leaves falling. In fact, your palm trees will stay tropical all winter and your magnolias will bloom through Christmas.  But don’t be fooled, fall is in the air and it’s back to school time.

Here are some tips if you have school-age children and are new to Central Florida.

Discovering your dream home is a great milestone, but it’s no secret that homebuying can be a challenge. From price point to closet space, numerous elements must align in order for you to find a space that your entire family feels at home in. However, as summer comes to an end, your ideal homebuying conditions may be fast-approaching! According to a study by the real estate listing site Zillow1, the late summer months, specifically August and September, are the best times to buy a new home.

In anticipation of the start of the school year and with many families away on vacation in the late summer, this is a great time to ramp up your home search. Move-in ready homes will be yours for the picking, and with fewer offers being placed, the odds may skew in your favor to lock in your perfect home.

Another finding worth mentioning is the decrease in interest rates2, down from nearly 5% last year. This not only facilitates the loan qualification process but also allows you to save more money in the long term. In select Lennar communities across Miami-Dade County, new home buyers can benefit from interest rates as low as 2.990% (3.287% APR)* with a generous maximum loan amount of $484,350.

A desirable Lennar community located close to Florida’s Turnpike, The Royal Collection at Silver Palms is offering a limited release of new single-family homes, currently at pre-construction pricing. Choose from one of three spacious designs, each beautifully equipped with stylish modern appointments — such as a chef-inspired kitchen with stainless steel appliances and cabinets in your choice of stylish colors. In such a beautiful setting, it’s easy to find inspiration for creating special meals for family and friends. These kitchens are made for delicious culinary explorations!

Of course, this lovely community isn’t just about the in-home features and finishes. For a nominal club membership fee, residents can access Silver Palms’ grand clubhouse, which features a glistening swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, party room, and much more. The little ones will love spending their days in the kids’ water park under the tipping buckets, while you unwind poolside and mingle with neighbors.

For those seeking a more cosmopolitan lifestyle, Urbana could be the perfect fit. Located in one of the most coveted and trendy cities in South Florida, Downtown Doral, this luxurious community of condos and townhomes is a short walking distance away from world-class restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping.

If its enviable location isn’t reason enough, Urbana features a beautiful selection of move-in ready homes, all of which are Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ to deliver unsurpassed connectivity and convenience. Owning one of these desirable new homes will also grant your family access to Urbana’s future clubhouse, and thus, endless opportunities for enjoyment and relaxation. For those who like to stay fit, a state-of-the-art fitness center and sports complexes will help keep the whole family healthy and remove your need for a gym membership!

Younger families with small children who might prefer a less urban landscape would surely love AquaBella, a family-friendly, lakeside community of single-family homes, villas, and townhomes in Hialeah. Offering open floorplans, high-quality finishes, and accessible pricing from just the $200s, these new homes were designed to anticipate your every need and exceed your expectations. And, as part of Lennar’s Everything’s Included® package, you can rest assured you won’t have to compromise on luxury features and your favorite finishes.

Designed with breathtaking water views and lush greenery, this lavish retreat also features the recently completed Club AquaBella, the first of two clubhouses in this master-planned community. Complete with a sparkling pool, one of our most impressive kids’ water parks among any Southeast Florida community, sundeck areas, cabanas, and more, you’ll be even more enthralled by all that awaits inside this expansive clubhouse –– schedule a tour and come explore it for yourself!

Find your new dream Lennar home in Huntersville, NC, today!

Consider these cities when buying your first home. According to The New York Times, these are the best 30 cities for first-time buyers and lucky for you Lennar builds in 17 of these locations.

It may be a buyer’s market, but first-timers still face challenges when purchasing a home — not the least of which is coming up with what can feel like a huge lump sum for a down payment.

Depending on where you’re buying a home, that can range from big to really, really big.

To help, WalletHub, the financial website, looked at 300 cities to determine those best suited to first-time buyers, ranking each on 27 metrics in three categories, including affordability (housing prices, insurance, cost of living and other factors).

The other two categories the study considered were the health of the local real estate market (including how long it would take for the monthly savings of buying over renting to surpass the cost of a down payment) and quality of life (including weather, crime rate, recreational options, schools and the share of residents around the same age as young buyers).

The study was a sampling — some cities were excluded because adequate data was not available — but the mix was broad enough to provide a starting point for buyers wondering where to look.

Interestingly, many of the smaller cities’ rankings were determined by quality-of-life scores, which were often superior to those of larger cities. And the cities with the most expensive housing didn’t make the top 10. (New York and Los Angeles were ranked 58th and 62nd out of 64 large cities.)

So which cities made the cut? Here are the top 10 for first-time home buyers — along with the main reason the study ranked them that way — in the small (population less than 150,000), midsize (150,000 to 300,000) and large (more than 300,000) categories.
