Having a furry four-legged friend is a sure way to turn your house into a home. If you’ve ever owned a dog, then you know well the joys of being a doggie-parent, and you likely also know the feeling of having your favorite new shoes nibbled. The amount of joy you get from your pet usually equals the amount of time you invest in training and caring for them. It’s been said that we can pick our friends, but we can’t pick our families. A pet is a rare exception; they are a friend but also a family member (that we can pick)! Here are four insightful questions to ask of your entire family before selecting the perfect dog.

Good luck with your quest to find the perfect family dog for your new home. For more interesting and exciting ways to make your house a home, check out Lennar’s Open Door Blog.

Spring is in full swing! If you’re itching to give your home it’s annual deep clean, below are some spring cleaning tips to help you make the most of your time and effort. There’s nothing more satisfying than having a freshly cleaned home!
1
Grab a microfiber cloth and your favorite glass cleaner, and clean EVERY window in your home, instead of just cleaning the interior side of them. Avoid cleaning your windows when direct sunlight is hitting them, to prevent streaks.
2.Countertops
The key to preventing granite and countertop stains is to clean spills as soon as they happen. It’s important to pamper your countertops a few times a year by whipping out a good stone polish to restore shine and help protect the surface from potential stains.
3.Tiled Surfaces
Clean bathroom and kitchen tiles with a cleaner that has a “neutral pH” on the label. You can also mix ½ cup baking soda and 2 gallons of water for a homemade cleaner. Then apply the liquid with a string mop or sponge mop.
4.Fridge
Take out EVERYTHING! Remove all of your produce, condiments
5.
Spring is a great time of year to declutter and organize your closets. It’s often the first step to organizing the rest of your home. Take this time to get rid of any unused clothes and accessories you have not used in the past year. Donate or trash all of your unwanted items, and organize the rest by how you get dressed in the morning, or by color. Your closet will look more appealing, and your everyday routine will be much easier
We all have a junk drawer for miscellaneous items. It’s good to clean and “organize” it once in a while! Simply take everything out of the drawer, and if any items have a “home” elsewhere in your home, store them away appropriately. Then add small containers in the drawer to help keep
7.Cabinets
Over time, build-up can collect in your cabinets – especially if you don’t run the exhaust hood over your range while you cook to keep grease from settling. Use a Kitchen Cabinet cleanser to cut through the dirt and leave your cabinets moisturized!
8
Your ceilings are spots that don’t get cleaned regularly! Take some time to grab an extended duster and go through all of the molding and ceilings in your home.
9
Flooring should be maintained regularly throughout the year. Wood and tile flooring should be swept and carpet should be vacuumed often. Bring in professionals 1-3 times of year to get your floors deep cleaned and fresh
Good news! You don’t have to clean these things every single year. It recommended you should clean them every four or five years – or every ten years if a rug is not walked on much. Over-cleaning these can contribute to wear and tear. You can treat stains at home with club soda!
The only thing bigger than the Lone Star State is the vast Texas sky, where opportunities to explore the nation’s most mythological state are as abundant as the stars you’ll see beyond the bright lights of Dallas–Fort Worth. Ride off into a few sunsets and hit the trail for Texas-sized adventures off the beaten path with a few of these unforgettable road trips:
Nothing says Texas like Luckenbach. The town’s not much of a town at all, it’s more like an old post office, general store and dance hall. Thanks to the Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson song, Luckenbach’s so famous that the highway department can’t keep road signs up. Here, you may run across a party celebrating the 300 millionth birthday of the armadillo or line dance to a country-western band or run into Willie himself.
Luckenbach, only about 250 miles from Lennar’s new homes for sale in Dallas, is something of a suburb of Fredericksburg, just 10 miles away. German pioneers settled in the inspiring Texas Hill Country in the 19th century. Today, you’ll find some of the best apple fritters in the state, along with authentic German fare and, in the springtime, fields of Texas’s signature bluebonnets.
From there, San Antonio is due south. Everyone knows the romantic River Walk and nobody forgets the Alamo. So treat yourself to El Mercado, the old market just outside of downtown, for authentic Tex-Mex food and souvenirs like candied jalapeño peppers and Mexican crafts.
From there, jump on Hwy 90 for a trip through old, old Texas to the funky towns along the Mexican border. Keep going straight for about 400 miles until you get to Big Bend National Park, which is about 10 percent larger than the state of Rhode Island. Hire the old man at the Rio Grande River to splash you across into Mexico on a donkey or hike up the Chisos Mountains for a breathtaking view or soak in one of the park’s natural hot springs.
After that, as the famous song says, try to make Amarillo by mornin’. The 390-mile drive takes you to the Cadillac Ranch, where graffiti-covered cars are impaled in the west Texas dust; to the Palo Duro Canyon, Texas’s smaller take on the Grand Canyon; to and Spanish Revival buildings on the nation’s mother road, Route 66.
The drive from Amarillo to DFW is about 365 miles, but be sure to drive another 100 miles farther east to Tyler, America’s Rose Capital, where you may very well find the famed Yellow Rose of Texas. And, finally, stop by Canton, roughly 60 miles from your new Lennar home, for a tasty burger of elk, duck, venison or wild boar burger at the Dairy Palace. Only in Texas.

Stub Stewart St. Park which provide full RV hook-up and tent sites, as well as cabins for an upscale camping experience. Taking a cue of inspiration from the season and Marie Kondo, we’re here to offer you some advice on prepping your home for spring. Of

Floors + Carpets: It’s so important to clean floors routinely Tiled floors are easy to clean but dirt can pile up quickly and carpets will carry dust and fibers if you don’t vacuum regularly. Consider hiring carpet cleaners for a deep clean 1-2 times per year, while a deep clean of tile or hardwood floors should be done more often.

Bedroom + Closets: Do you remember to flip your mattress? It can help improve sleep and will stay firmer for longer versus falling in where you and your significant other sleep each night. It’s also very important to go through your closets each year. Take your winter clothes out to be stashed away for the next few months and throw anything you haven’t worn in the past year into the donate pile!

Bathroom: Change out or wash your decorative towels, deep clean the soap dish or dispenser along with the toothbrush holder, wash the bathroom mats, toilet and tub – and go through the medicine cabinet getting rid of anything that’s expired or going bad.

Kitchen: It might not be the most enjoyable place to deep clean, but get into that fridge, take everything out and wipe everything down. Clean the oven, stove and the microwave. Empty out the bottom of the toaster, wipe down underneath and behind the appliances. If this is where you keep your junk drawer, time to go through that as well.

Great Room: Vacuum the furniture and underneath the couch to make sure you’re getting all the accumulated dust out. Go through and toss any old magazines, newspapers or junk mail. Wipe down the windows, dust the shelves as well as the top of the fan and don’t forget to clean to the curtains!
Make sure you incorporate all five of these cleaning areas during your spring cleaning to enjoy a fresher atmosphere at home all season long.
