Lennar and HomeAid Dedicate Honor Home to Project Independence

Inland Empire, Calif. – April 2018 – Lennar, HomeAid and a handful of contributors and trade partners celebrated a special dedication ceremony where a new Lennar home was donated to Project Independence. Project Independence is a program by Rancho Damacitas Children and Family Services designed to help former foster youth or disadvantaged young adults transition into an independent adulthood. The Honor Home is the final phase of the program and serves as an acknowledgement to the young adults who have successfully met all milestones in the program and are on the journey toward self-sufficiency.

“Project Independence is such a great program that we’re thrilled to be a part of, along with the contributions from many other trade partners in the industry that we couldn’t have finished this home without,” said Tara Conklin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Lennar Inland. “We were able to build one of our most popular Next Gen® home designs for the project, with slight modifications that enhance its ability to meet the project’s needs.”

The Honor Home provides a living space for five young adults and one live-in mentor. As residents, these young adults live in the home for a flexible amount of time depending on the resident’s needs. To be considered for selection, each young adult must be a current resident within Project Independence in good standing, demonstrate a history of maintaining employment and meeting budget requirements and have completed their high school or GED requirements. Most residents are expected to complete the final phase of the program after two years.

Located in Murrieta, Lennar built a modified version of their popular 4121 Next Gen® – The Home Within A Home® design. Featuring an attached private suite with a kitchenette, living room, two bedrooms, full bathroom and private entrance, the Next Gen® suite will function as the perfect space for the live-in mentor. The main home features five additional bedrooms with en suite bathrooms for each of the young adults – along with a spacious loft equipped with a couch, television and table tennis.

Lennar utilized the help of many other consultants and trade partners to complete the project, such as David Neault & Associates, SB&O, Inc., GeoSoils, Inc., Kevin L.
