Fort Mill: a town of history, southern hospitality, mouthwatering eats, and so much more. It’s no surprise that its recent growth is booming, and we’ve found that Fort Mill is easy to wander from street to street, delighting in its amenities. With plenty to do during the day and into the night, what’s not to love about this South Carolina treasure? If you find yourself in the charm of this small-town, here’s a look at what makes this place as uniquely heartwarming as a tucked away southern town can get.

Proximity to Charlotte

Just 18 miles from Charlotte, Fort Mill lives up to its small town charm while allowing easy access to Charlotte. Charlotte is North Carolina’s commercial hub with pleasing nightlife, culture, and entertainment. With easy access to I-485 and I-77, you’ll have every opportunity to gain your fill of a big city and go home to unwind after a day away.

Rich History

Starting in 1873 and taking its name from a colonial-era fort built by the British, the rich history of Fort Mill began. With long known settlement of the Catawba Indians and Scotch-Irish settlers, the town experienced rapid growth thanks to textile mills and economic development. Eventually, Fort Mill developed into a known suburb of Charlotte, NC, offering a fantastic quality of life. It’s also become one of the fastest-growing areas in South Carolina and boasts outstanding schools, thriving businesses, recreation and dining.

Hiking, Biking, and Nature – Oh My!

If you’re looking for some fresh air, Fort Mill is home to shimmering lakes and lush forests. Anne Springs Close Greenway has 2,100 acres of blooming nature. Find out more information about the nature preserve at www.ascgreenway.org. Lake Wylie is another attraction known for summer water sports and has over 300 miles of shoreline just minutes from Fort Mill. For a day trip, visit Kings Mountain with numerous trials or stop by the Fort Mill History Museum downtown.

Your Fill of Restaurants

The best, if not most important part of any town is the food and Fort Mill doesn’t fall short of this expectation. Get your morning crunch on by ordering the Cinnamon Crunch Waffle at the Flipside Cafe.  As the weekend rolls around, and you want a relaxed night out, head to Pasquale’s Restaurant and Pub. Grab a pizza and have plenty to take home as leftovers- winner, winner, pizza dinner!

Following dinner, head to Grapevine and try their craft beers or wine and unwind from the week. Eat, drink, and be merry!
