How to extend your patio season

Most would agree that summers in the south are magnificent. Barbeques and cold drinks on the patio with friends and family. Truly being able to enjoy your home both inside and out. So, what happens when the warm summer breeze starts to fade away and the crisp fall air creeps in?

As the leaves begin to change and the smell of a nearby fireplace fills the air, it’s only natural to feel that enjoying the sunshine must be put on hold until Spring. There’s no need to hide inside. With a few simple changes, you can enjoy your patio well into the colder months.

Warm it up

On a crisp Fall evening try gathering your friends around a crackling fire pit with mugs full of warm apple cider. Roast marshmallows and make s’mores while you share a few laughs and cozy up with chunky-knit blankets. A fire can be just the thing to get you into the Fall spirit, whether you are enjoying the company of your loved ones or seeking some alone time after a long day of work. In one DIY afternoon you could have your own built-in stone fire pit. Looking for a simpler option? You can purchase a free-standing no-assembly-required fire pit. This will allow you the freedom to relocate your Fall flames to any area of your patio or yard.

A patio heater can also be a great way to warm things up. For those nights when you’re looking for something to break the chill, but you don’t want to get the logs and lighter fluid out, a propane heater can be the perfect way to create an intimate, cozy gathering place right in your own backyard.

A bright idea

As the days become shorter it’s important not to forget lighting. A set of string lights and some large votive candles can make all the difference when setting the tone for your new Fall oasis. Swap out those beachy-colored outdoor pillows for some bold plaids in warm tones like burgundy and gold. Before you know it, you’ll have created a living space that everyone wants to enjoy, no matter the temperature.

Have some fun

Depending on your budget, one surefire way to enjoy your patio or deck well into the colder months is to install a spa. Enjoying a hot, soothing spa while the cool air whirls around you will quickly become one of the things you look forward to most after a long day. No matter the season, you will relish in the relaxation.

Trade in your flip flops for a pair of buttery leather boots, grab a hot cup of pumpkin spiced coffee and enjoy Fall to the fullest in the comfort of your own Lennar Homes patio!
