One Year Later, U.S. Veteran & Family Feel at Home in Fort Mill

One year ago, American hero Khris Decapua’s life changed forever thanks to Lennar Charlotte and Operation Coming Home, a non-profit that builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans. In a heartwarming ceremony, his family received their home in style with a key delivery from a parachute team, surrounded by family and friends.

Since moving in, it’s safe to say that Khris and his family have been busy: they’ve taken to building an aquarium that now houses 12-13 species of fish along with a koi pond in the back yard. “The aquarium truly makes our home unique and we were inspired by visiting the Charleston Aquarium earlier this year,” shares Khris.

For their two-year-old daughter, the Decapua’s have designed a craft room with variety of games and activities. One of their favorite things to do each week is walk down to the playground as a family and enjoy the slide.

“One year later, we’re delighted to hear that Khris and his young family are loving their quality of life,” shares Lennar’s Charlotte Division Manager Mark Henninger. “We’re always honored to have veterans as a part of our Charlotte communities and there’s no question that the Decapua family are beloved figures at Waterside at the Catawba.”
