Lancaster, SC- Asour communities grow around Charlotte, we love seeing the joy of home ownership lead to neighborly initiatives that make a difference. Over the past year, there’s no better example than the Needle Crafters, a group of 30 homeowners in our Tree Tops community who have harnessed their sewing skills for the greater good.
Given the backdrop of the community’s amenity village center, the group unofficially started with just a few women who met regularly in the sewing cabin. As friendships formed, the Needle Crafters have gone on to make quilts for the homeless, hats and blankets for babies at the Levine Children’s Hospital and most recently 200 placemats to support HOPE (Helping Other People Effectively) in Lancaster, S.C. Now, the group is assisting Days For Girls, a nonprofit that provides DFG kits for menstrual health in Kenya.
“As the Needle Crafters and our Tree Tops Cares groups have demonstrated, active adults are a significant and positive part of any community, particularly for their outstanding volunteer service and philanthropy,” said Sheila Hendrickson, Lennar’s Lifestyle Director based in Tree Tops. “As we continue our commitment to this lifestyle, it’s amazing to see Tree Tops’ neighbors band together, making a worldwide impact.”
The story of the Needle Crafters was also recently featured on CN2 News and thanks in-part to Tree Tops, Lennar has recently been named the number one active adult builder in Charlotte.
