The Front Porch Project: More Than a House

As a home became more than just a house, the “new normal” suddenly uprooted lives everywhere. Dining rooms became the new offices and pets are coworkers and classmates. Concepts like the Front Porch Project have become one of the many ways for communities to share what life is like in this day and age.

What is the Front Porch Project?

The Front Porch Project became a time capsule of sorts for families to remember these moments. Photographers all over the country began driving around their local neighborhoods to take pictures of families on their front porches or lawns. There was no set “look” or “aesthetic,” simply each family doing what they do best.

Lennar: Family Together, Community Together

At Lennar, we embrace the idea of a home being a place not only to bring a family together, but a community as well. Things like daily social distancing newsletters keep community members engaged while also staying safe and healthy. Two of our Active Adult Communities have jumped in on the Front Porch Project, as well as developed their own twists on social distancing.

Tree Tops Community: Above and Beyond

Tree Tops, located in Lancaster, SC, is a private and gated community with a rustic theme and beautiful ranch homes. The community has gone beyond the Front Porch Project to create an involved atmosphere that adheres to social distancing guidelines. Things like group exercise classes in the outdoor amphitheater, or amenities like pickleball, tennis, and bocce have given members the opportunity to stay healthy and get outside. Other activities have kept the community mentally and socially engaged, like an Easter golf cart parade, a photography scavenger hunt, a Car Cruise parade of older and unique cars, a photo challenge of rescued dogs of Tree Tops and many more opportunities.

Imagery Community: Living Up to the Name

Imagery is located in Mount Holly, NC right on Mountain Island Lake. In addition to the lake, other unique amenities, like pickleball, tennis courts, walking trails, amenity cabins and more, allow homeowners to build active relationships in the community. Living up to the it’s name, the community has embraced photo challenges as a way of staying engaged, with challenges like backyard beauties, scavenger hunts, and all-american. Other activities have involved celebrating rescue dogs or sharing tips and tricks to gardening, recipes, and video fitness classes.
