Fabulous Festivals: Fun For The Whole Family

If you’re looking for can’t-miss festivals in Miami, three of the year’s best–the Miami International Boat Show, the Coconut Grove Art Festival, and SOBE Food and Wine—take place in February! Presenting epic brands, sensory delights, pioneers and celebrities, as well as exciting activities for every age group, these events attract families from around South Florida, and well beyond. Fortunately for Lennar new home residents, our Miami communities, with their strategic locations near major expressways, are all within easy access of these magnetic destinations.

First to open was the Miami International Boat Show, which ran from February 14-18 at Miami’s Marine Stadium in Virginia Key. If you’re in the market for a boat, there was no better venue to find your dream vessel; but even if not, there was plenty of fun to be had. Miami residents enjoyed delicious food, rode the sail simulator and took sailing classes, discovering the world’s leading boat and gear exhibitors, visiting Conservation Village, viewing live paintings of marine art, and much more.

For residents of Lennar’s Satori, a community of new townhomes and estate homes in Miami Lakes, going home after the Boat Show doesn’t mean no more water views! With a 67-acre private lake and a floating dock off the resort-style pool, at Satori you’ll see herons, ducks, and turtles splashing in the pristine lake. Fix yourself a cold drink, claim a chaise on the dock, and watch as the sunset turns the surrounding water to a sparkling magenta. It will be the perfect cap to an unforgettable day!

The Coconut Grove Art Festival, which ran February 16-18, is touted as “the top-rated arts festival in the country”. There was an interactive family zone where pedaling a bicycle enables you to spray paint a canvas, as well as delectable culinary demonstrations, live musical performances, and 380 featured artists. This was the place to acquire one-of-a-kind treasures, thought-provoking art, and conversation-pieces for your home.

Certain home spaces, particularly those designed with a minimalist aesthetic, are exceptional showcases for art. You’ll find that’s the case with Lennar’s Landmark in Doral, a contemporary community of condominiums and two- and three-story townhomes. These striking, light-filled spaces, many with rooftop terraces and stunning views, will perfectly complement your paintings and collections. And Urbana’s sparkling pool and clubhouse with rooftop lounge–so conducive to finding relaxed inspiration–may bring out your inner artist and move you to making creations of your own!

A third happening event in our area is the SOBE Food and Wine Festival, February 20-24. With an excess of 200 chefs from around the world, this gastronomic extravaganza is bringing global flavors to South Florida—for our international dining enjoyment. Here you can take part in hands-on master classes, rub elbows with such culinary gurus as Bobby Flay or Guy Fieri, and enjoy an old-fashioned carnival on the beach. This festival will not only be a tremendous treat for your taste buds but may provide an impetus for your own culinary explorations!

Chefs and cooking novices alike love Lennar new home kitchens, which so artfully combine beauty and practicality. For example, at Siena, a new Lennar single-family home community coming soon the corner of US-1 and S.W. 232nd Street, the spacious kitchen designs include a high-quality stainless steel appliance package, attractive cabinets in your choice of designer colors, ample counterspace, and open sight lines. And if you ever need assistance finding a recipe, keeping a shopping list, and many other such tasks, Smart Home Technology featuring the ever-helpful Alexa, is wired into every new Lennar home.

Although epic festivals like the Miami International Boat Show, the Coconut Grove Art Festival, and SOBE Food and Wine, create a huge splash, there are other more hidden gems to be explored. Close to Satori in Miami Lakes, a Jazz Concert in the Park, to be held on Saturday, February 23rd is a great way for families to enjoy good music in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Not to be outdone, Doral hosted the Art of Music: Musical Nights in the Park on Friday, February 15th , which featured live musical performances from talented local artists. Doral also hosts Movies at the Park, Art After Dark, an annual Camping Under the Stars event, and a host of other fun activities. They even put on their own Doral Food and Wine Festival, so residents of Lennar’s Landmark should stay in the know and check out happenings in their dynamic community!

Near Siena, the city of Cutler Bay is rich in community events, ranging from a Chili Cookoff to an Easter Egg Hunt and Fourth of July Celebration. Throughout our area, there are big and little opportunities for exploration, some famous and fabulous, others quaint and home-style, but all wonderful in their own ways. And while you’re on the road to discovery, drop by one of our Lennar communities. You may find that “exciting” doesn’t just describe festivals, but everything you get in a new Lennar home!
