The Benefits of ENERGY STAR®

With Lennar homes, Everything’s Included®, which means GE® ENERGY STAR® appliances are installed before your family moves into your new home. These appliances do more than just save energy, however. The ENERGY STAR® program encourages homes to be built with energy-efficient construction1 and encourages home builders to include features that enhance the quality of your home, decrease your monthly utility bills, and reduce your carbon footprint.

What is ENERGY STAR®?

ENERGY STAR®2 is a voluntary program founded by the US Environmental Protection Agency that helps both businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through a focus on energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR® certified homes are at least ten percent more energy efficient than other homes built to code and achieve a twenty percent improvement on average, while providing homeowners with better quality, performance, and comfort.

What are the financial benefits of ENERGY STAR®?

In 2017, the ENERGY STAR® certified new homes program helped homeowners save three billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, avoiding $400 million in energy costs.3 These homes will save you hundreds of dollars a year through the power of incredibly energy-efficient appliances.

For example, ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators use up to 40 percent less energy than conventional fridges sold in 2001. An energy-efficient dishwasher saves you $25 a year in electricity cost alone, despite the fact that they run only a fraction of the amount of time that a refrigerator does. Moving out of the kitchen and into the laundry room, washers and dryers that are ENERGY STAR® certified can use up to fifty percent less energy, and when combined with one another, can save you almost three hundred dollars a year.

What are the environmental benefits of ENERGY STAR®?

In addition to ENERGY STAR® homes saving homeowners millions of dollars a year in energy costs, there is a more global environmental impact.4 Two million metric tons of greenhouse gases have been stopped from entering the atmosphere. By moving into these homes, your family will become a part of a community spread across the country that is doing their part to protect the environment for generations to come.

With money back in families’ pockets and a clear environmental advantage, it’s easy to see how beneficial the ENERGY STAR® program is for homeowners. And with 36 Lennar communities in Tampa Bay to choose from, your family will find a home built with energy-efficient construction as well as with GE® ENERGY STAR® appliances included that fits your lifestyle and needs.
