Whether you’re from Ireland or not,  there’s an undeniable sense of spirit in the air on St. Patrick’s Day. “Kiss me I’m Irish” t-shirts, shamrock sunglasses, dyed red beards and leprechaun hats are adorned by your neighbors, classmates, colleagues, and friends. Drinks, eggs, and rivers turn green and traditional Celtic music is played on radios around the world.

While many cities participate in St. Patrick’s Day festivities no one does it quite like Tampa.

Here are a few family-friendly events happening in Tampa this St. Patrick’s Day weekend:

• 2019 Annual River O’Green Scavenger Hunt
  • Where: Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  • When:  Saturday, Mar 16, 2019, at 2:00 PM
  • Details: Participants in the scavenger hunt will race around downtown and along the Riverwalk to be the first to complete 20 riddles/tasks at participating bars, venues and parks. Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels of Tampa. So get a team of 1-5 people together and enjoy a day running around the city solving riddles, and playing games. This event is suitable for older kids. Young kids will be able to enjoy other activities at Curtis Hixon Park during this event.
• St. Patrick’s Day Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest 2019
  • Where: Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  • When: Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 AM
  • Details: This signature event of the Tampa Downtown Partnership takes place in the beautiful Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park where attendees can enjoy the downtown and University of Tampa skyline amongst live entertainment, games, kids’ activities, food trucks, and more. Don’t get too distracted by all the fun and games though! The highlight of this event is when the Hillsborough River is transformed into a bright shade of green for the occasion.
• St. Patrick’s Day Pirate Water Taxi River O’ Green
  1. Where: Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  2. When: Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 AM
  3. Details: To further enjoy the day’s activities hop aboard one of the water taxis for an incredible view of the green river.

This is always a fun and exciting weekend in Tampa with events for the whole family. So, dust off your Riverdance shoes, throw on your “kiss me I’m Irish” t-shirt and have some fun!
