A Successful Active Adult Community in Buckeye, AZ

The most valuable things in life are not given; they are earned, like victory.

Located in Maricopa County, Buckeye is home to sunshine and gentle desert landscape, existing as a friendly place for visitors and residents with its small town country feel.

Victory at Verrado offers 55+ residents a community bursting with opportunities at relaxation and recreation. Tucked away in the foothills of the White Tank Mountains, with a stunning view of the Valley of the Sun, Victory appreciates the desert terrain. Hiking trails are available to the nature-lover, winding amongst desert flowers that paint the sands with wild splashes of color and creosote bushes that emit the pleasant smell of rain. Saguaros stand like age-old sentries among the landscape – these green giants are bearers of the sweetest gifts of the dunes, the delicious cactus fruit, which is ready to harvest at the hottest and driest point of summer. Wildlife is abundant, with roadrunners, eagles, quail, horny toads, jackrabbits, and prairie dogs, all of which live in harmony with their human neighbors.

Sunshine blankets the desert in a warm embrace every morning; at times its bright reign is mottled with drifting clouds that drop no more than eight inches of rain a year to quench the dry landscape. At each day’s end, the sun bids farewell to residents with a spectacular array of colors – fiery reds, mellow oranges, and golden yellows pleasantly offset by pastel blues and psychedelic violets – that create a rich, one-of-a-kind sunset. When nightfall settles in, the evening sky is bejeweled with countless stars that counterbalance the twinkling lights of Buckeye and Phoenix, and the atmosphere cools to a pleasant degree.

The Verrado community is nestled within the city of Buckeye – a friendly place with a small town country charm, located in Maricopa County. Buckeye holds fast to its Old West heritage, keeping alive the tradition of doing things “The Cowboy Way.” Every January, for one weekend, the city hosts its Buckeye Days – an institution since 1935, when it was originally called Helzapoppin’ Days; the festivities include a cattle drive, a parade, a carnival, a PRCA rodeo, and a Wild West Show, all of which serve to entertain guests in a manner that illustrates the founding days of the cowboy. Buckeye holds other city celebrations, to the delight of its populace. In October, there is a four-day Oktoberfest that features a carnival, a car show, a gem and mineral show, and a local vendor faire called Sangria & Shopping. And, twice a year (May and November), residents can enter a demolition derby with “heavy metal” vehicles dating the late 70s to early 80s and be cheered on by the rest of the community to smash each other’s rides to smithereens.

Verrado and surrounding areas are attentive to outdoor recreational enthusiasts. There is a vigorous park system, with more than 50 in the Verrado community alone, each a little different from the last in terms of size and use (e.g., dog parks, water parks, and playgrounds). Hiking excursions are available at three mountain parks in Phoenix – South Mountain Park and Preserve, McDowell Mountain, and Camelback Mountain; the Arizona capital is just 35 miles east of Verrado. Golf courses are scattered throughout the region, offering players a variety in course design, topography, and routing, thereby serving them a constant challenge in meeting the end goal of sinking holes with fewer strokes.

Victory’s integration into the vibrant, all-ages community of Verrado affords residents several occasions to explore and have fun. Most everything is within walking distance, making various amenities and necessities accessible and convenient. The popular Main Street offers visitors decadent restaurants, cozy cafés, and unique shopping opportunities; it is also the center for concerts, festivals, and farmer’s markets. The Center on Main is the resident clubhouse; it has a fitness facility and two outdoor swimming pools – one for lap exercises and the other for fun. Moreover, the Center is the go-to place for networking, education, and how-to arts and crafts tutorials.

A shining star at Verrado is The Victory Club. Sitting upon a plateau approximately 120 ft above the valley floor, with 360-degree views of the landscape, this edifice is the heart of Victory, an epicenter for fun and leisure, where you can meet new people and find all manner of things to do. Enjoy a delicious meal at The Vic Bar + Kitchen or take a romantic evening stroll through the Victory Vineyard. Stay healthy and active with the life performance training center, resort-style pools, luxury spa, racquet sports pavilion, and yoga lawn. No worries about hauling a heavy gym bag from home; store your belongings in the attractive, clean locker rooms that provide complimentary hair and skin products. Visit the Sports Den to watch a football game and shoot pool, or step into Arts With a View, a grand arts and crafts studio that overlooks the city of Phoenix. And, the Victory Hall hosts a wide curriculum of classes, seminars, and workshops for the edification and entertainment of residents.

Victory homes vary in architectural design, using a perfect blend of classic and modern styles that conform well with the backdrop of the desert landscape. Each home has a spacious front porch and a generous outdoor living space in the backyard, enabling indoor-outdoor mutability for recovery and relaxation efforts. Guests can be entertained in the large greeting room incorporated into every floorplan, and flex-spaces are available so that your home can accommodate your needs, whether that is the necessity for a study, a guest room, or a storage space. And, the principle of universal design that was integrated into each home’s construction produced zero-edge showers, level kitchen counters for sitting or standing, and accessible cabinets and appliances, amongst a host of other great features, in an attempt to address comfort and convenience with a sense of style.

Life in Victory at Verrado is convenient, flexible, active, and fun. This is the perfect place to enjoy retirement if you wish to live in a community that is lively day and night, one that affords you unforgettable experiences and numerous opportunities to connect, make memories, and revive your spirit. Victory is, in fact, victory for you.
