House to home

5 Ways to Prepare Your Home for Spring

Spring has sprung! Now that days are stretching their arms to stick around a little longer, it’s time to prepare our homes for the new season. Spring cleaning can often feel like a daunting task with so many things to do around the home, but there are a few simple ways to edit and get things ready for the warmer months.

Pack away seasonal items

Warmer weather means it’s time to pack up those warm turtlenecks and long underwear. Make sure all your winter clothes are clean, and if you want to save some space, consider using vacuum bags to get any extra air out. Pack away all your clothes or seasonal goodies in containers with lids, and as airtight as possible to keep things fresh for when you break them back out in the fall and winter.

Make a spring-cleaning checklist

If you’re not ready to take on all the tasks that spring cleaning requires, just make a checklist for now. There are lots of templates that you can find online, or you can go room-by-room in your home and make a list of everything that needs to be done. Don’t forget the outdoor space, too! Set deadlines for your household to stay on top of things.

Make sure to add the important tasks such as purging clothes, getting rid of expired pantry products, de-winterizing if needed, and re-organizing forgotten spaces such as basements and closets.

Prepare your garden for the warmer months

Clear out the weeds and debris that have collected over the colder months and get your pruning shears out to clean up any overgrowth. Set up any planters that need to be prepared for new plants and consider a planting schedule depending on your local climate.

Add some indoor plants (or take care of your current ones)

What better way is there to get into the spring mood than with some greenery? Add a few easy-care indoor plants to breathe some life into your home. Or if you already have plenty of plants to take care of, get them ready for the period of active growth by pruning, fertilizing and repotting if needed.

Incorporate spring scents

Add some new candles or room sprays into your home with some scents that get you in the springtime mood. Pack away the clove and vanilla for next winter and incorporate florals, lemon, lavender and linen.

Spring is the perfect time to breathe new life into your Lennar home. Incorporate these simple touches to get your space ready for the warmer season.
