The end of the year brings lots of changes: Cooling weather, festive décor, spending time with family, new Spotify playlists, and of course, the announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year. Very Peri is 2022’s shade, living in the blue family with violet red undertones. “Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
The Color of the Year has been in effect for 23 years. Pantone is known for its influence on interior design, fashion, and visual trends, providing designers and consumers alike with a guideline for what to expect in the year to come. This year’s color is particularly special because it’s the first time in history that Pantone created a new color instead of choosing an existing one.
“We are living in transformative times. PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and transition we are going through. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing, and our physical and digital lives have merged in new ways,” the Pantone Color Institute said. “With trends in gaming, the expanding popularity of the metaverse and rising artistic community in the digital space [Very Peri] illustrates the fusion of modern life and how color trends in the digital world are being manifested in the physical world and vice versa.”
Incorporating Very Peri into your home
Bringing a new color into your home can feel intimidating, especially if it’s not a color you’re accustomed to using. Bright and vibrant colors can often seem like they might not go with neutral spaces, but little pops of color can go a long way without clashing with the décor that’s currently in your home.
Perhaps the easiest way to bring Very Peri into your own home is to swap out some accent pillows and textiles in your living room. If you’re worried that the color is too much, try going for a striped or patterned pillow, so the color is a bit more muted. In your dining room, try using this color for your placemats, napkins or table runners.
Wallpaper and paint can be applied to walls for a total room transformation. If you don’t want to re-do an entire room, an accent wall effortlessly brings the color in.
Planter pots bring Very Peri into your home, front porch or back patio with ease. And since planters can afford a bit of eclecticism, you won’t have to worry too much about the color fitting in with what you’ve got going on. Feel free to go bold here!
Picture frames, vases and candles make it easy to incorporate new colors into a space without having to totally revamp the entire room – and it’s usually an affordable way to do so.
Very Peri was chosen as 2022’s Color of the Year for its vibrant nature and the creativity and innovation that it represents. Feel free to get creative in your new Lennar home with this stunning color, in whichever way suits your household the best!
