With fall finally here, the holiday season will sneak up quicker than you can say “boo.” Between the mad rush of party planning, feast cooking and trying to keep up with everyday life, it’s easy to forget that this time of year is supposed to be fun! Luckily, we have 5 special tricks and treats to get your ghosts and ghouls in the spirit for Halloween!

  1. Make your own haunted house

When the leaves start changing color, that means it’s time to dust off all your holiday decorations, and Halloween is no exception. Go all out with spooky decor with hand carved jack-o-lanterns, paper mache creatures like bats or spiders and adding a bit of mystery with black lights.

  1. Start a scaringly fun new tradition

Get your household together and take turns picking Halloween-themed movies leading up to October 31st. Enjoy one another’s company by crafting creepy treats like these ghost-shaped crispy rice treats and spiced apple cider. Celebrate the big day by carving pumpkins for your porch and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

  1. Tell a scary story

Feel inspired just in time for the spooky season by getting together and taking turns telling a scary story. Have participants write down their creepiest ideas on paper and throw them in a bowl, going around the circle taking turns crafting stories from the prompts.

  1. Host a bonfire

Just as the air starts to get crisp, an ideal way to spend time outside is around a fire. Enjoy the autumn air and get friends and family together to play games, roast marshmallows and enjoy each other’s company.

  1. Trick-or-treating

The oldest Halloween tradition in the book! Prepare your costumes and equip your flashlights for some serious candy hunting. Keep young ones safe and entertained by tying light-sticks to their costumes, dressing them in bright fabrics and keeping to sidewalks instead of walking in the street.

Fall is a fun-filled time meant for making memories that will last a lifetime. Follow these tips to ensure a happy, healthy and safe Halloween, and don’t forget to carve time aside this Hallo-weekend to stop by and view a Lennar community near you that everyone can enjoy.
