1. Patapsco Valley State Park, Central Maryland
About 30 minutes from many of our communities, Patapsco Valley State Park has something for everyone in your family! With over 16,000 acres of land, there is plenty of space to hike, bike, canoe, fish, camp and even ride horses! 2. Gunpowder Falls State Park, Central Maryland
Gunpowder Falls State Park is one of Maryland’s largest state parks and also about 30 minutes from many of our communities. It offers over 18,000 acres of fun in Harford and Baltimore Counties. The park is split up into six areas, including: the Hereford Area, perfect for hiking and biking and the Hammerman Area with great picnic areas and a swimming beach! 3. St. Clement’s Island State Park, Southern Maryland
About an hour from our St. Charles community, St. Clement’s Island State Park is one of the most unique Maryland has to offer. Accessible only by boat, tours take place every weekend from June through September 1st. The Water Taxi leaves from the St. Clement’s Island-Potomac River Museum in St. Mary’s County. According to the DNR website, “On March 25, 1634, the first English settlers under the Baltimore proprietorship sailed to St. Clement’s Island on the Ark and the Dove.” Along with a memorial for the first Marylanders, St. Clement’s offers hiking trails, fishing and picnic pavilions.
