In your area: summer 2016 in St. Paul/Minneapolis

Summer may be our time to relax, but telling that to the kids once they start to get bored is just asking for trouble. Instead of reminding kids to relax and enjoy time off, why not try taking the proactive approach by keeping them busy with fun and productive activities throughout the summer break. Newer Lennar homeowners who aren’t yet accustomed to the area yet may wonder, “How are parents and nannies supposed to keep the kids out of trouble and active for the entire summer in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area?”

To put it simply, make a plan ahead of time! Brainstorm, so that you don’t end up spending the whole summer trying to ignore the fact that the TV is on again! If you aren’t sure where to start, talk with a few of the neighbors in your Lennar community. They may have great experience to share. If not, sit down with them and bounce ideas off each other so you both have an arsenal full of fun and educational options ready to go for when the kids start to get bored. To get you started, we’ve compiled some suggestions below.

What To Do in St. Paul/Minneapolis: Summer 2016

  1. The Children’s Museum of Minnesota: The Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing kids a fun, hands-on learning environment. The Museum is open from Sunday -Thursday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
  2. Como Zoo: Como Zoo is dedicated to creating memories and inspiring appreciation of the natural world. The Zoo is open every day of the year. Summer Hours (April – September) are from 10 a.m., to 6 p.m.
  3. The Wild Rumpus Book Store: The Wild Rumpus Bookstore is a bookstore with tons of fun events planned. Here, kids can enjoy find various books as well as seeing the animals the bookstore owns. Hours for the bookstore are Monday from 10 a.m., to 5 p.m., Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m., to 8 a.m., and Saturday 10 a.m., to 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m., to 5p.m.
  4. Children’s Theatre Company: The Children’s Theatre Company is dedicated to the creation and presentation of new adaptations and original plays for young people and families. Tickets for the show can be purchased online, or at the box office.
  5. Sea Life at Mall of America: Sea Life is dedicated to teaching kids about the aquatic life of the creatures who live there. The aquarium is open Monday – Thursday: 10:00a.m. to 7:30p.m., Friday: 10:00a.m. to 8:00p.m., Saturday: 9:30a.m. to 8:00p.m., and Sunday: 10:00a.m., to 7:00p.m., Tickets can be purchased online, or at the Aquarium.

Of course, you might have noticed there are a couple major activities missing from this summer to do list. It’s not because there are hardly any more options. It’s because there are far too many to list! Just a few of the events in the area during Summer 2016 include: Twins Games, Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America, Minnehaha Falls, Valley Fair and Big Stone Mini Golf.  If museums are more your style, there are just as many options waiting for you: Walker Art Center, The Science Museum of Minnesota, etc. There’s far too much to do in the Twin Cities for anyone to be bored over the summer break!
