One of the joys of owning your own home is being able to celebrate holidays on your own terms. You might invite your entire family and every friend you’ve ever known. But you also might opt to spend the day on your own. The decision is now yours. You decide if there will be a party. It’s up to you what type of cake is served. And you’ll be the one in charge of the festivities. If you’re new to the excitement of holidays in your own home, make this St. Patrick’s one to remember by bringing the “luck of the Irish” home.

Bring Some Irish “Luck” Into Your Own Home on St. Patrick’s Day:

On Tuesday, March 17th, 2016 folks all around the world will be throwing on their favorite green t-shirts. Many will be raising a glass in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the international holiday honoring the life of a patron saint of Ireland. But before you leave home, make sure you’ve already prepared your home for the holiday.

Plant Lavender & Roses for Luck: As you may already know, ensuring luck may be as simple as planting roses and lavender. If they aren’t already present in your home garden, consider placing a small houseplant in the kitchen or living room area. It can serve dual purposes: bringing some luck home for St. Patrick’s Day and reminding you throughout the year how lucky you already are to own your own home.

Hang a Horseshoe: The horseshoe, kept as a talisman, has long been known for its mythical abilities to bring good fortune. Although it’s a pretty heavy talisman to cart around, it may be more appropriate as a good luck talisman for your home this St. Patrick’s Day. Simply hang a horseshoe in your home and wait for the good luck to pour in on you and your family. Some prefer hanging the horseshoe with the ends pointing up so that good fortune can “collect” in the u-bend of the horseshoe while others prefer hanging it with the ends pointing down so that good luck can pour out on those who pass by.

Even if just for fun, these lucky traditions will hopefully bring good fortune to you and your home this St. Patrick’s Day!
