At Home with Lennar: Ways to Celebrate Easter 2020

While we across the nation are practicing social distancing, it probably means that if you celebrate Easter, it might look different this year. But there’s no reason why you can’t make the most of this special holiday while making sure everyone does their best to follow recommended socializing rules.

Here are some fun ideas to help you create a joyful and memorable Easter Sunday:

  1. Video chat with family. If you haven’t started to use the various forms available for video chatting, this holiday is a great way to start. With so many options out there, such as Zoom, Facetime, Google Chat, Whatsapp and more – virtually anyone with a smart device or computer can take advantage. Set-up a computer screen, phone or tablet so that Grandma and Grandpa, aunts and uncles or anyone can join your household for Easter brunch.
  • Mail an Easter card. You still have time to send out a special handwritten letter to loved ones from afar to wish them Happy Easter. Get the kids involved with home-made art pieces that will also help make for great keepsakes and memories during this unique time.
  • Egg-decorating & egg hunt at home. Tradition is tradition, and luckily these classic celebrations of Easter can still be continued! Start the day off with Easter egg decorations using food dye or  paint. Then hide some Easter eggs with goodies around the backyard or in the home for the kids to hunt.
  • Take a family portrait. Orchestrate a fun family portrait to celebrate the holiday, all from the comfort of your own home. You can use the timer on your cell phone, coordinate outfits, dress some members up in bunny ears and even create a cute sign to hold up in the photo to remember this year’s Easter for years to come. And don’t forget the pets! Then, either send it out to your friends and family or upload it to social media as a way to send Easter greetings to your community.
  • Send out a family email newsletter. We typically see family newsletters sent out around Christmas time and the end of the year, but why not virtually create one to send out this spring? With everyone experiencing drastic changes in our everyday lifestyles, it’s the ideal time to reach out with a quick update on how everyone in the household is doing. Share funny stories – How have the kids taken to homeschooling? How have the parents been handling having the kids home 24-7? – anything that will make your friends and family smile.
  • Have the whole family make a special Easter dessert. Since Easter Sunday is a day we all decide to indulge a little, especially with sweets, why not come up with a fun dessert recipe the whole family can make together. Set-up your work station and give everyone a job to do to. It will create moments everyone will remember. Then, once it’s finished, everyone can partake in enjoying their special homemade treat.
