Finding inspiration in the Color(s) of the Year

Color has the remarkable ability to evoke emotion and feeling – the colors you use in your space is a reflection of your taste and how you want to feel in your own space. Here at Lennar Maryland, we choose the colors and design our model homes specifically to make you feel at home, and if you’re searching for a little inspiration yourself look no further than the Pantone Color of the Year.

For 16 years, Pantone has named a new Color of the Year which then goes on to subtly dominate the world of design, seen on fashion runways and interior decorating everywhere.  The decision is anything but random: thoughtfully chosen after gathering information from tastemakers in international fashion, entertainment, travel, and art industries, Pantone even takes into consideration socio-economic conditions to find a color that expresses what is taking place in the global zeitgeist (Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director at Pantone).

2015 COLOR OF THE YEAR: MARSALA

Marsala

2015 was the year of Marsala – we saw the wine-colored hue bring a sophisticated, natural earthiness to our interiors and the nurturing and fulfilling undertones were a natural fit for eating spaces, accent pieces, and cozy areas.  Though 2016 brings new trends to decorate our model homes, we will definitely still be seeing Marsala as a favorite in our model homes, as it brings a sense of warmth and richness into any space.

2016 COLOR(S) OF THE YEAR: ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY

For 2016, Pantone revealed an unprecedented TWO colors of the year – Rose Quartz and Serenity – describing this pale pink and soft blue as reflecting balance, wellness, tranquility, and the world’s current demand for mindfulness and an “antidote to modern day stresses”.

With 2016 on its way in, we’re looking forward to using these colors in our model homes and seeing how our homeowners utilize them in their own space. Who wouldn’t want to have soothing Serenity accents and relaxing Rose Quartz decor? It looks like we’re already ahead of the trend here at Lennar Maryland, with a couple of our rooms already decorated with the two:

Our Stanford model at St. Charles Towns used Serenity as their main wall color with white and cool accents, and the Kentwell model at Fieldstone Preserve opted to use Rose Quartz with bold colors to create a little girls’ dream room.

Don’t be afraid to use these colors on your walls, but also remember that even using them just as accent colors can bring a sense of tranquility to any room.
