Have You Kept Up With Your New Year Resolution Fitness Goals?

It’s been about 2 months since making some new 2020 New Year’s Resolutions. Many people choose to focus on exercising more and then abandon it before Easter. We have a few recommendations to help increase your chances for long-term success if you follow these simple tips while utilizing two of our communities’ amenities.

Create a Plan

You should always ask yourself 3 questions before making an exercise program.

1.What time of day will you be exercising? Determine three days and times that work with your schedule, and stick with those days – so you work out at the same time each week.

2. What kind of exercise will you be doing? The best kind – is the kind you enjoy! Walking, cycling, running, swimming, cardio, etc are all easily done in a location like The Farmhouse at Durham Farms in Hendersonville.

3. How much time will you be exercising? Start with as little at 10-15 minutes, and then slowly build up to 30-45 and maybe even an hour per workout!

Bring a Friend
Multiple folks every year make fitness a New Year’s Resolution and goal, so starting (and keeping up) your journey with a friend will increase your chances for success, and bring in more fun!

Take It Easy

Think of your resolution as a lifelong commitment to a healthier lifestyle, vs a binge or do-it-quick thing. You are more likely to be successful if you take it easy at the beginning. As an example, you may see many people exercising at a high intensity, 6/7 days a week – but it’s fine to start with 2 or 3, and do a variety of physical activities to keep up the diversity and keep you engaged.

Carellton in Gallatin provides multiple opportunities for different activities, such as running, walking, weight lifting, and swimming!

Don’t Forget to Be Realistic

One of the reasons people often give up on their New Year’s Resolution by February or March is because they can be extremely impractical. Setting goals is a great idea, but make sure they are realistic and feasible.
