Austin named Number 1 Best Place to Live by U.S. News & World Report!

For the second year in a row Austin, Texas has been named the Number 1 Best Place to Live by U.S. News & World Report!

U.S. News & World Report gathers data on 125 metro areas in the United States. The rankings are determined by five indexes; job market, value, quality of life, desirability and net migration. Austin received a 7.7 ranking, out of 10, to be named this year’s top city (again).

Austin is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country and received a ranking of 9.4 for Net Migration on this year’s list. Austin has seen strong job growth over the years, especially in the technology industry. According to U.S. News & World Report, “The unemployment rate in Austin and the surrounding area is lower than the national average, and the average income is slightly above the national average as well.” Source: realestate.usnews.com

Austin also received a score of 8.9 for Desirability. So, what draws people to move to the capital city? Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin hosts many music festivals and events throughout the year and live music can be seen around town every night. The annual Austin City Limits 3-day festival is held in Zilker Park over 2 weekends in the fall and is chockfull of popular musical artists. South by Southwest is a yearly festival in March that features music, film and interactive media events. Austin also boasts a great culinary scene from food trucks to esteemed restaurants and promotes an active lifestyle with access to abundant hike and bike trails and many outdoor activities!
