Try These Super Easy at-Home Projects to Add Flavors, Colors and Freshness

One of Texas’s most storied songwriters wrote a delightful tribute to homegrown tomatoes. Everybody knows backyard ’maters beat store-bought hands down. Growing the fruit—yes, it is a fruit—is just one example of a super-easy project when you’re at home.

An old, but newly popular, trick for growing the tastiest tomatoes involves a simple straw bale. You don’t need a raised bed or bags of topsoil, straw creates its own nutrients.

Oh, and the plant loves sunshine, and Lennar’s new homes for sale in Dallas, TX, bathe in an average of 234 sunny days, about a month’s more sunlight than the national yearly average.

Start with a single straw (not hay) bale. Garden-supply stores, nurseries, feed-and-seeds and farmers markets carry them, as does a large tractor-supply shop just 10 miles from Lennar’s new Riverplace community, coming soon with new homes for sale in Garland, TX.

Now add an herb garden. They’re so simple you can start one in your kitchen or another sunny spot in your new Lennar home. The easiest edibles to grow in the Metroplex include basil, thyme, dill, rosemary and cilantro and oregano. The former, a savory topping for Mexican foods and the latter, a key ingredient in the Lone Star State’s national dish, chili.

Many new Lennar homes include The World’s First Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ Home Designs, which means you can always ask Alexa to suggest arts-and-crafts ideas or fun things to do with your stir-crazy kids.  Parkview Hills Classic, coming soon with new homes for sale in Fort Worth, TX, is among many new communities offering smart-home technology.

Still, while Everything’s Included® in every new Lennar home, with high-end features built-in, homeowners still want to make their home their own. Here are some easy ideas:

  • Perhaps you’d be willing to let the kids—or maybe just one of them—paint a mural on a bedroom wall.
  • Rearrange the furniture in your open-concept space to give your home a fresh new look, or repurpose pieces, such as converting an old chest or end table into, say, a bookshelf.
  • Upcycle old kitchen supplies, such as pots, pans and kettles, into planters.

Elegant new homes for sale in Frisco, TX, such as the seven generous floorplans in Lennar’s classic designs in Lennar’s Phillips Creeks Ranch community, are already chockful of comforts. Maintenance is still important, and now’s as good a time as ever to clean air vents and the refrigerator coil, paint baseboards and tackle other such oft-neglected chores.

If you’re not familiar with Lennar’s stress-free home buying experience, here’s an even easier project: Peruse Lennar’s new homes for sale throughout the Metroplex by calling the Dallas-Fort Worth Internet New Home team at (866) 314-4477, or take a virtual tour now.
