The Five Pillars of A Successful Summer Barbecue

August 2018 – As we gear up to enjoy these final months of the summer season, a perfect barbecue get-together is on everyone’s mind. If you have a party coming up, make sure you are implementing all of these staples for a perfect summer barbecue:

#1 Perfect Protein:

Arguably the most important part of any barbecued meal! Be sure to provide your guests with options. So, in addition to steaks, burgers, hot dogs or chicken – don’t forget your vegetarian or vegan friends! Grilled Portobello mushrooms and veggie burgers make for delicious and considerate alternatives.

#2 Sides, Sides, Sides:

Even if you decide to go the potluck route, it’s a good idea to have some side dishes/appetizers available for everyone to snack on. You can even provide your guests with side dish suggestions they can bring themselves. Salads, fruit, corn, chips and dips – the possibilities are truly endless. Start a search on Pinterest and get creative!

#3 Cold, Refreshing Drinks:

The key here is to have options and variety: any kind of lemonade, iced teas, sodas, punch or adult beverages. But, don’t forget the water! It’s important to make sure everyone stays hydrated in order to beat the summer heat.

#4 Music Sets The Mood:

Get your speaker set-up ready and the playlist together, so you can create the perfect atmosphere for your guests to enjoy all evening long. Music is the perfect conversation piece to get things going. You could even make it a theme party using music as the ultimate tool – 80s party, luau, country music – take requests and let the music really set the vibe.

#5 Great Company, Of Course:

Friends, family, neighbors – invite them all! Barbecues are the easiest ways to have everyone over for food without breaking the bank. It’s the perfect way for friends or coworkers to get to know each other and to turn new neighbors into life-long friends.

Implement all these strategies and your Barbecue will be the highlight of the summer! If you really want to go above and beyond, add a game competition, microphone for karaoke, or a welcoming bonfire for the festivities to carry into the night.
