Summer camps on Florida’s first coast

School’s out for summer here on the First Coast, and there is no shortage of activities for your children to engage in that are fun as well as educational.  We’ve got a few ideas here that are family and wallet friendly.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is offering up a summer day camp for kids K-8 that will cover topics from Zookeeping 101 to topics like how animals communicate with each other to how they cohabitate.  These camps give kids who are interested in nature and wild animals a way to foster that interest into knowledge and further understanding of the bugs and beasts they see when they visit the zoo.  Camps begin June 12 and run from 9-4 weekly through August 4.  Lunches and extended care options are available as well.  Visit www.jacksonvillezoo.org/summercamp for more information.

Maybe you have some little groms in your brood.  If that’s the case, then Surf Into Summer surf camps may be just what you’re looking for.  Surf Into Summer camps focus on things beyond just surfing techniques, like ocean conservation and awareness, good surfing etiquette, and proper equipment selection.  These camps run all summer long (May to August) and can be attended in Jacksonville Beach or Ponte Vedra.  For more info, head on over to www.surfintosummer.com/Home/Index.

If you have a young Indiana Jones or Lara Croft itching for an adventure this summer, then check out the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History (MOSH) summer camp programs.  Available all summer (June – Aug) for kids K-8, the MOSH camps have activities planned all across the science and history spectrum.  Space, architecture, dinosaurs and more are on the schedule for this summer, so visit the www.mosh.org for more information on how to get your kids registered.

Of course, living in one of our communities gives you and your children access to adventures in your own backyard as well.  Our communities often offer spectacular amenities like swimming pools and playgrounds, walking trails and ponds and so much more.  Take your children on adventures that are part of where you live.  Visit any of our beautiful communities across Northeast Florida and see for yourself what kinds of adventures you could be living with your family in a Lennar home today!
