Winter in Maryland

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has come and gone and if you’re anything like the rest of us, you’re wondering how you’re going to fill the void. These winter months, especially in Maryland where you can never be sure if it’s going to be 32° or 62°, seem to last forever. It’s our mission to lure you from hibernation with all of the fun activities Maryland offers during the winter months!

Check out our top five things to do in Maryland this winter:

1. Wisp Resort

Wisp Resort, located in McHenry, MD, is a snow-lovers paradise. Not only does the resort offer fantastic skiing and snowboarding, visitors can try their luck at the Wisp Escape Games, feel the wind in your hair while snow tubing, defy gravity on the mountain coaster, or explore the area by cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Snow not your thing? There are plenty of restaurants, cafés and shops at the resort, including the brand new Alpine Pasta House. Head over to the Wisp Resort website for more information.

2. Western Maryland Scenic Railroad

Western Maryland is gorgeous any time of year, but it really shows off in the winter. One way to truly see the beauty of the region is a trip on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. This three-hour trip on a diesel locomotive takes passengers from Cumberland, Maryland to Frostburg, Maryland winding its way through the Allegheny Mountains.
