The Lennar Arizona Division was recently recognized by the Lennar Corporation for their time and involvement dedicated to the Child Crisis Center. Founded in 1981, the Child Crisis Center was created by a small group of volunteers with a focused sense to create a solution to prevent child abuse and neglect. This Child Crisis Center runs an emergency shelter program that can accommodate 42 children at a time. Children who stay longer than a few days attend local public schools and are provided tutors as needed. Beyond emergency shelter, the Child Crisis Center provides family and parenting education, adoption and foster placement services.
To assist the Center, Lennar associates have and continue to volunteer on several occasions including the spring cleaning event where Lennar associates sanitized and repaired toys for the children at the shelter. In the summer they created a memorable water games event complete with water balloons, baseball, a relay race and numerous other activities! In the fall, after cleaning the playgrounds, the Lennar associates enjoyed playing basketball, painting fingernails and made art with play dough. The giving to the Child Crisis does not end at the Center. The Arizona associates host an annual Diaper Drive which collected 13,796 needed diapers, over 10,000 wipes and several boxes of care items for toddlers donated by Lennar associates and valued trade partners.
Throughout the year funds for the Child Crisis Center were raised at a Root Beer Float event and a Pancake breakfast. Thanks to the Lennar associates, Rialto and UAMC the Division was able to raise $636.00 to fund future activities and donations. One of these donations included 45 fleece blankets which were made by the Associates and donated to the Center.
The Child Crisis Center holds a special place in the hearts of Lennar associates. One associate said that after leaving a volunteer session, they “spent the whole drive home caught between crying and smiling. Those kids need positive figures around and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.” The Division was overjoyed to donate a $10,000 check to the Child Crisis Center provided by Lennar Corporation in recognition of the Division’s involvement with the Child Crisis. Lennar Arizona is looking forward to many future volunteer opportunities with the kids and staff at the Child Crisis Center.
