How to keep the family entertained – and sane!

Stay entertained at home

As we settle into the new normal of social distancing and staying at home, it can be easy to fall into a monotonous day-to-day routine, especially when work from home and homeschooling appear to take over. If you’re not careful, the effects of cabin fever can begin to creep in and lower your spirits during these already difficult circumstances. To help combat this and keep your family’s sanity in check, we’re sharing five easy ways to stay entertained while quarantined.

1.Learn something new.

Now’s the time to tune that old guitar, download a language app, dust off those roller-skates, or search for easy science experiments to do at home. Carving out time to try new things not only keeps the mind active, but also gives us something to look forward to during the day. Families can come together and bond over these shared experiences or, if your family’s interests vary greatly, each individual can choose to learn a different skill. Nevertheless, instilling a love of learning in your household is a great way to make the most of these trying times.

2. Make cooking a family affair!

Since daily commutes are no longer eating up our lunch breaks (pun intended), we are spending more time in the kitchen, which gives us the opportunity to bring out some pantry staples and get everyone involved! If you live in one of our Lennar homes, you’ll have no trouble rounding up the family in your spacious chef-inspired kitchen – equipped with stainless steel appliances as part ofLennar’s Everything’s Included® package. The older kids can cut some veggies, while the little ones help with easier tasks, like measuring ingredients or setting the table. This will give your family a new appreciation for what they eat, while keeping them busy.

3. Do a workout with the kids.

Let’s face it, sitting in your chair all day isn’t exactly good practice. So, why not get back on that health kick and bring your kids along? There are plenty of fun and easy home workouts both parents and children can enjoy. For example, engage in some friendly competition by racing across the room or put on some upbeat music and show off your dance moves. Now, before you get started, make sure you have enough space for the whole family to move around. ParklandBay, a community of move-in ready estate homes in Parkland, offers spacious floorplans to ensure your family has plenty of room to spread out and exercise indoors.

4. Immerse yourself in a virtual experience.

Much to our dismay, many vacations and outings have been put on hold due to the current situation. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t travel from the comfort of our own homes. National parks, museums, and theaters all over the country are providing free, virtual programs, so your family can explore picturesque views, watch live performances, and tour new destinations online. For residents of Palomino Lake, a charming townhome community in Davie, this viewing experience will be further elevated by Lennar’s standard Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ Home Design, which delivers unsurpassed connectivity from every part of the home.

5. Head outdoors and enjoy some sunshine!

The trick to staying sane during these difficult times is to go out into nature, even if it’s just your backyard. Simply sitting outside and getting your daily dose of vitamin D can help you reconnect and enjoy some much-needed serenity. Sierra Ranches, a luxurious community of estate homes in Davie, was designed to embrace the outdoors and provide a haven of relaxation for homeowners, all in the privacy of their own oversized backyards. With ample room for a garden and lounge area, you can bask in Florida’s year-round sunshine while the kids play their favorite games.

With these five easy tips, we hope you’ll be able to spruce up your daily routine and enjoy some family fun. If you’re interested in learning more about Lennar’s Broward communities, gives us a call and ask about our virtual home-buying experience! Stay safe!
