Lennar is building its first solar-powered community in the Tampa Bay area, which will also be the first new-home, solar-powered community in Pasco County.
Lennar’s Bexley Courtyard community, part of the Bexley master-planned development in Land O’Lakes, is about 30 miles north of Tampa and will have 28 homes upon completion.
If you’ve ever considered buying a home that uses solar energy, here’s what you need to know about the solar-powered homes in Bexley Courtyard:
Lennar works with advanced solar energy technology
Lennar’s solar panel systems are provided by SunStreet, which uses advanced solar technology that produces more renewable energy than most traditional solar panel systems, and helps homeowners be more environmentally friendly.
With a solar-powered home in Bexley Courtyard, homeowners pay a fixed monthly fee to SunStreet that never increases for any reason. Homeowners can also choose to purchase the solar energy system if they prefer.
Current utility policies convert energy produced but not used to a credit with the community’s utility provider. When homeowners need more energy than their solar system produces, additional energy is provided by the utility and any credits that have been earned are applied to offset the cost.
Solar-powered homes in Bexley Courtyard boast modern architecture and tons of amenities
Bexley Courtyard offers four distinctive floorplans ranging from 1,888 square feet to 2,542 square feet. The solar energy technology and all equipment comes pre-installed and ready for activation.
The one- and two-story homes are designed with angled roofs and contemporary exterior finishes inspired by the mid-century modern architectural style.
The community is part of the 1,700-acre master-planned development called Bexley that offers all-inclusive amenities such as two resort-style pools, a lakefront clubhouse with a café and fitness center, and a 10-mile biking and running trail designed by Avid Trails.
Lennar is helping make the Sunshine State a leader in solar energy
Although Florida has not been a U.S. leader in solar energy, this may soon change. According to a June 2017 report by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Florida ranks third in the nation for solar capacity potential, but 13th in the nation for solar capacity installed. However, the report projects that by 2021, Florida will climb the rankings to eighth in the nation for solar capacity installed.
Lennar is becoming a leader with SunStreet in building solar-powered homes, with nearly 200 solar-powered communities throughout the United States.
