Hillsboro – Love Where You Live!

Tucked into the lush and beautiful Willamette Valley, 20 minutes west of Portland and a short hour’s drive from the Pacific Ocean in the heart of the Silicon Forest, sits Hillsboro. Founded in 1842 and incorporated in 1876, Hillsboro was chosen as the county seat for the newly formed Washington County and was based then primarily on agriculture. Today, agriculture continues to play a key role in the economy of Hillsboro, but the ‘crops’ have greatly diversified with companies like Intel, the largest single site employer in Oregon, based in the city.

As Oregon’s fifth largest city, Hillsboro enjoys award-winning urban planning, an affordable cost of living, a strong economic base and one of the state’s most diverse populations. Most recently, the city has seen a huge investment in the redevelopment of the south Hillsboro area, which makes now an exciting time to put down roots in this exceptional city.

Lennar is building three communities in the city that put you right in the center of the best of Hillsboro. Take in Hillsboro’s natural beauty with more than 28 parks in the area. Orenco Woods Nature Park, Bald Peak, Hagg Lake and more – there’s an abundance of recreation to explore. Bordering the Tualatin River and within the city limits, you’ll find the Jackson Bottom Wetland Preserve, a 710-acre wildlife preserve that is home to many native species of wildlife. Plus, Lennar’s three communities are close to new parks developed by the city: Butternut Creek Park, Century Oaks Park, Oak Grove Park and Dobbin Park in the new Reed’s Crossing masterplan community.

Beer lovers rejoice because Hillsboro is also known as Tualatin’s Valley’s ‘Beervana,’ thanks to the several craft breweries located near the eastern edge of the city. Try a new brewery every month, such as Three Mugs Brewing Company and Vertigo Brewing; or switch it up and visit one of the many wineries/vineyards in the area, including Oak Knoll Winery and Blizzard Wines & Vineyard.

Downtown Hillsboro

There’s also no shortage of entertainment in Hillsboro. Catch a game and feel the city’s spirit at the Ron Tonkin Field, which is home of the Hillsboro Hops. The Oregon International Air Show is held at the Hillsboro Airport, which puts on a spectacular air show and draws in a huge crowd every year.

Additionally, much is in the works for the City of Hillsboro. Recently, the South Hillsboro Finance Plan was adopted, which calls for $450 million in infrastructure investment – from improving intersections, creating new roads and more. South Hillsboro, which was once the historic Ladd-Reed Farm, is poised to become an entirely new and exciting part of the city. Distinctive neighborhoods, mixed-use town centers, retail, public plazas, shopping, hundreds and hundreds of acres dedicated to natural areas, open space and recreation such as parks and multi-use trails; a fully multi-model transportation network with world-class bicycle infrastructure and expanded transit service – it’s all part of the new South Hillsboro.
