Austin’s Appeal is Far Reaching, Especially with Retirees and Empty Nesters

You’ve probably heard a variety of accolades doled out to the ever-hip city of Austin – No. 1 best place to live in America by U.S. News and World Report, No. 2 best large city to start a business by Inc. Magazine, one of the Top 15 cities in the U.S. to visit by Travel + Leisure and too many more to list.

Heck, it even earned the top spot in the country to enjoy a mimosa during brunch by Sky Blue Credit. Ironically, and possibly because of the wealth of things to see, do and enjoy here in Austin, it also ranked as one of the worst cities for a night’s sleep by Sleep Junkie.

Because of the national acclaim and favorable attention it garners, Austin is not surprisingly one of the fastest growing cities in the country year after year. And it’s not just tech transplants and growing families choosing Central Texas as their desired relocation destination. One of the region’s largest areas of population growth is the active adult audience comprised of empty nesters and retirees looking to take advantage of year-round sunshine, every day live music and an abundance of outdoor activities.

Lennar and Village Builders have been at the forefront of meeting the needs of these oft arriving sophisticated homebuyers, recently introducing an exclusive series of single-story floor plans called the Legacy Series, offering 13 distinctive plans that are perfectly suited for active adults who know exactly what they want in a home and are not willing to compromise on their expectations.

While the Legacy Series plans offer the most desirable Lennar and Village Builders features with thoughtful attention to the value and convenience of aging in place, that may be easier said than done in a city as vibrant as Austin.

If you were to schedule a calendar of must-do’s across Central Texas, there’s no telling how many years it may take to mark everything off the list. You’d have to check out the Congress Bridge bats, head out on a Hill Country wine tour, enjoy a splash with Austin Duck Adventures, explore scenic Lake Travis, try high speed karting at Circuit of the Americas, soak in the scenery on a walk, hike or jog at Lady Bird Lake, keep things weird with a visit to South Congress Avenue, go underground at Inner Space Cavern and take a dip any season at aquifer fed Barton Springs Pool. We haven’t even mentioned the cuisine, featuring a wide array of Mexican plates, barbecue pits, greasy hamburgers and vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes to rival any place on earth. Don’t forget live music, which begins the moment one arrives at Austin Bergstrom International Airport and extends to bars, clubs and restaurants around town just about every day of the year.

If this isn’t enough to keep one busy, there are also events throughout the year that bring together a wonderfully diverse audience of locals and visitors, such as South by Southwest, Austin Film Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin Food and Wine Festival, Pecan Street Festival, Trail of Lights, Rodeo Austin and the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, to name a few.

For the many 55+ adults already living in Austin or those maybe considering a visit to see if this is the right place for life’s newest adventure, Lennar and Village Builders has Legacy Series floor plans ready for viewing in some of the city’s most attractive communities. Visit Lennar.com for more information, to view floor plans and get directions to the communities where they are available.
