Tips to Celebrate Life’s Milestones: Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Graduations

Here’s a counterintuitive notion: Calamities don’t have to wreak havoc on celebrations. In fact, unprecedented times can create opportunities to make birthdays, anniversaries, the arrival of a new family member (babies!), graduations and other milestones unforgettable.

Lennar builds homes and communities designed for celebration. With new homes for sale in Dallas, TX, and throughout the Metroplex, Lennar honors that legacy every day—and now more than ever, celebrating our loved ones continues to be of major importance.

Every year, of course, brings another individual milestone, a time to mark the achievements of those we love (and our own, too). For Lennar, those occasions include Grand Openings, model-home Open Houses, community tours, major sales events and more.

Likewise, from the Lennar communities of Phillips Creek Ranch and Estates at Rockhill with new homes for sale in Frisco, TX, to the communities of Heartland: Jewel and Heartland: Springwood with new homes for sale in Heartland, TX, families will always fuss over one of their own. Here, then, are some ideas to help make special occasions even more special during the most trying times:

People, people, people: What’s a party without people? Graduation is about pomp and circumstance, birthdays about cake and blowing out candles, retirement parties about starting a new chapter, and wedding showers about feting the bride.

These digital days have turned Zoom sessions into a verb, but now is the time to think outside the screen. Invite your community’s musically inclined teens to serenade your loved one from the sidewalk or lawn. Form a community caravan with honking well-wishers. Ask family, friends and neighbors to decorate the honoree’s yard with balloons and bunting, posters and pennants.

Mail it in: Ask friends and relatives to make personalized cupcakes or other favorite treats for a birthday or gender-reveal party and simply mail them to your new Lennar home.

More food: Festivities and food go together like Texas BBQ and, well, everything. No place else dishes up good times like DFW. After all, Bon Appétit named Dallas “Restaurant City of the Year” in 2019, and, dollars to donuts, your honoree’s favorite meal can be picked up right around the corner from any Lennar community or delivered to your home.

Another idea would be to let the honoree make her own party, complete with designing a make-your-own tacos or pizza bar in your Everything’s Included® kitchen—and encourage classmates and faraway friends and relatives to participate remotely.

If you’re not familiar with “meal trains,” now’s the time to get on board. E-vite folks to contribute the honoree’s favorite foods, left on your front porch in a cooler or basket. (You can also make meal trains to honor essential workers or simply help out others.)

Make plans: Celebrations—holidays, for instance—require plenty of strategizing. A month or two before the birthday, anniversary or graduation party, solicit the honoree’s favorite people to compile a personalized scrapbook or photo album, perhaps with Shutterfly.
